Trump and is slavering Orcs will be causing a loud international incident soon with their tactics. I don't know about this flight, but the one Mexico rejected was because the deportees weren't Mexican. They were from Guatemala.

And yesterday there was a flight of Brazilian deportees. They arrived in handcuffs and leg chains. And no they were not criminals. No one was charged with a crime in the US and they chained up a boy with Downs. And they bore evidence of having been beaten as well. And they were not part of Trump's sweep. This flight had been scheduled months ago.

When they landed in Manaus (because of mechanical difficulties) and the Brazilian government found out about this they were not too pleased. They ordered the people off the plane and ordered the US crew to remove the cuffs and chains. The US crew refused both at first. They had second thoughts when a couple hundred heavily armed policemen arrived on the scene. Apparently Rubio has been told in no uncertain terms that if it happens again the flight crews will be arrested, detained, tried and imprisoned as detaining a citizen in Brazil without cause is a crime. And once they hit sovereign airspace, a crime has occurred. Rubio has also been informed that US crew bearing arms in Brazil without proper documentation will also be arrested, tried and imprisoned. To just add a bit of annoyance, Brazil will be requiring these crews to have proper passports and visas.

It will be interesting to see whether Trump and his minions will demonstrate the same respect that they demand. I doubt it, though.

"On day one, I immediately halted the hiring of any new IRS agents," Trump told a crowd of supporters gathered at the Circa Resort & Casino. "You know they hired—or tried to hire—88,000 new workers to go after you, and we're in the process of developing a plan to either terminate all of them or maybe we'll move them to the border," he added.

However, on a broader level, I find this entire situation absurd. The United States has become far too reliant on migrant labor, having half of the agricultural workforce undocumented. We need to ask ourselves why this is the case. It ain’t because this is "work Americans won't do". It's entirely because, for over 40 years, corporations have been allowed to exploit cheap imported labor, keeping wages for these jobs disgustingly low sometimes even below the federal minimum wage.

There are plenty of Americans who would be willing to do this work, but not for $12 an hour under the sweltering sun of Texas. Offer $30 an hour plus benefits to harvest lettuce, and you would see plenty of people lining up for those jobs. The problem lies in the fact that neither Democrats nor Republicans have taken meaningful action for decades. BOTH sides have allowed "big ag" to exploit these workers, paying pennies per box harvested perpetuating this cycle of exploitation, and doing so in such a way that if it were to ever dare end, suddenly panic, omg, our foods gonna rot and we're all gonna die of starvation because we cant afford food! They have caught you in this line of thinking, so they will always get their cheap, exploitive labor.

In my opinion, the widespread abuse of migrant labor over the past four decades is a shameful stain on this country. But, just like iPhones and Nike shoes, most people turn a blind eye to the unethical labor practices behind the products they want, so long as the price is low. Just look at OPs post: concerns about "rotting crops" and "skyrocketing prices", and not a single care about the exploitation of these workers. This has been ignored for decades and now that there's a policy threatens to send them home, we just get all up in arms because we might have to pay more.

Giving them a path to citizenship would solve this, easily.

There, I did your homework for you.

DP. That would not solve anything if there continues to be a steady pipeline of exploitable undocumented labor.

It is one thing to deport but it is unconscionable to handcuff hands and tie their feet, deny water, refuse toilet facilities and people fainting from the heat on the plane. Just when you think trump and his goon squads can sink no lower they go subterranean!

Can someone who is expert in this area chime in on the effectiveness of the US Agricultural Guest Worker program? It would seem that this program, which allows employers to sponsor seasonal guest workers to work on farms, is the ideal solution for regularizing and legalizing foreign labor for agriculture. Does agribusiness not take advantage of the program because it is too difficult/costly?

Not criminals? They entered the country in violation of US law.

This is crazy. ICE is picking up Navajo and detaining them. They believe they don’t have birth right citizenship. Like if anyone has birth right citizenship, it’s the native tribes in AZ! They’re more American than any of us.

They do not have birthright citizenship under the 14th amendment. Congress has given them citizenship.

Visa overstays. Like most illegal immigrants. That isn’t a crime. It is not unlawful entry, which is a crime.

Why do you assume that every person is a criminal? The majority are visa overstays. Americans do this all the time. Go somewhere and decide to stay beyond their welcome. Are they violent criminals desperate to be chained? Is your kid? Many Americans enho overstay their welcome are 20-somethings. Want to be digital nomads but hate paperwork. Are they criminals too?

We can’t take care of American citizens, why are we letting people from other countries come to our country against our laws, and taking care of them?

We have the money to deport illegal immigrants and secure our border.

MAGA blarney.

No, it's far cheaper to let immigrants work here while awaiting trial in their asylum cases or deportation proceedings.

And they pay taxes on their wages, and you get your grass cut, your nails done, your house built, your children cared for, your elderly parents fed and bathed, your crops picked, your food cooked, your houses cleaned, etc. etc.

Win-win!!
