Only someone with a cold, dead heart would put a fetus above the life of a 9 year old child, and think it's better to force a child to carry a pregnancy to term than to terminate. And yet here we are today. This kind of extremist, barbaric thinking is spreading throughout the anti-abortion movement.

I'm sure there are some anti-abortionists who will claim they are more moderate and would not want children to be forced to go through labor and delivery. But I am skeptical they will ever fight against this part of their movement as long as it means they get to rob adult women of their bodily autonomy.

Dr. Ingrid Skop, an obstetrician in San Antonio who belongs to the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists, said that even a girl as young as 9 or 10, impregnated by a father or a brother, could carry a baby to term without health risks.

“If she is developed enough to be menstruating and become pregnant, and reached sexual maturity, she can safely give birth to a baby,” Dr. Skop said.

I think it's fine for those poor children of conservatives to give birth at 9 or 10 too. I mean, it will mess up several generations of their family.

I know of what I speak: my southern great grandma gave birth at 13 and was married the year before that. Almost every generation has a girl who gets pregnant by 15, and then most of her descendants live in poverty. Those poor girls will just think it's "normal" and then their daughters will have babies by 14 too.

It’s an absolutely indefensible position to claim that it’s safe for 9 and 10 year olds to give birth, just because they’ve begun ovulating. Fistulas, anyone? Even teens can develop lifelong damage from pregnancy. Just because a body *can* does not mean it *should.*

And an actual child? These people are just beyond effed up.

Stop pushing identity politics, de facto open borders, and stop reverse discrimination and erasing definition of male and female, and you will have the moderates and independents on board. Normal people do not want 9 and 10 year olds forced to carry pregnancy to term.
As long as we aren’t quite in Handmaid’s Tale, the wealthy will always have options.
I’ve plenty of money and my kids are dual citizens in country where they would be able to access abortion freely.
I would do anything to prevent my 10 year old daughter having to carry pregnancy to term.
These people are monsters.

The people responsible for electing Trump are the people who voted for him.

That being said, Trump had nothing to do with this law. Texans passed it all by themselves. Trump's SCOTUS nominees may uphold it, but that doesn't change the fact that it was Texans who passed it.

Please don’t refer to them as “prolife”, ever. They created that term to insinuate anyone that supports abortion is against life. No only is that insulting to pro-choice advocates, COVID and the rights opposition to any policy that supports families, especially children has exposed how little these people care about “life.”

We need to stop repeating their framing. Call them what they are: anti-abortion. They are literally against abortion.

It’s fairly recent history(~70 years) that girls as young as 9 started menstruating. This is due to improved nutrition. Their bones, widening of hips) has not changed. This entire topic is disgusting and abusive.
