I have been really confused as to why people keeping saying this didn't happen too....
Denial is a sob. It is happening people, just wish it was 9/1, but oh well.

We have been notified (GA club) that the ages are changing to SY for fall 2026. We have not been notified of an exact 8/1 cutoff or what the age cutoff is. I am assuming it's 8/1. They are starting to evaluate players now based on where they may play next year too.

The reason people say this didnt happen because they were there and didnt see or heae anyhting about it.

Also theres a very enthusiastic SY parent that like to make things up to try and tell everyone that GA is going SY.

I'll wait for an official announcement. If there ever is one.

We haven't been notified (top GA club) and my kid is a trapped older.

Because BY crazies want to convince themselves SY would not happen. MLSN is the next shoe to drop. MLSN Academy plays up next season, which should give you enough hints.

Have you asked? I don’t think anyone is being proactive about telling families this early.

Not same person but I agree. Was chatting with my kids club director and when I brought up the age change it’s almost like he was shocked that I knew anything about it?.. which was weird because anyone who pays attention would know this is happening.

US club already made an official announcement so ECNL is changing?

According to my kids club assistant director, GA is changing and MLSN top league will be BY but the MLSN 2 league will be school year. If a team wants to move up they will need to adjust rosters.

Which sounds like a pain in the A$$

Crazy from the parents who think a birthdate automatically gives them an edge, especially when the advantages diminish the older they get. It's all highly individual and club dependent. If anything, the biggest turnovers will be in the first year of 11v11, where these older kids will have a year of 11v11 under their belt (although unless it's a top, top team, all those kids won't be wanting to play on a team that hasn't played 11v11 before). After that, Pre-GA, Pre-ECNL, Pre-MLSN, etc, etc. The rest, there'll be far less movement.

Some people have no idea that their kid is about to be moved from the top team or club. Will probably end up going to GA or other lesser ECNL clubs/teams.

My daughter’s 2010 ECNL team has 5 Q3/4s all would be best players on the 2011 team. Also I know of 5 other 2010 ECNL players at other clubs are all going to tryout for new 11/10 team at my kids club next year. That’s 10 players coming to tryout that I know of.

And parents are obvious their kids have always been on the top ECNL team for my area for a long time and they are about to be swept out.

Totally agree. Parents think its just another tryout..... NOPE.

No, they know and it'll be game on. But I'll say one thing -- if those outsiders aren't showing up at practices BEFORE said tryout, the existing players have a lot less to worry about.

Starting as a trapped player means nothing. She’ll start on the younger team too when the age changes.
