Criminal trials are many for the defendant and society. We don't have an eye for an eye here, so they are mainly to deter more damage to society and give a warning to future offenders or to allow the wrongly accused to set the record straight. Hopefully the families can get some money to help them move forward more easily and at least feel from the community during the criminal trial that their children's lives were valued. |
Bye! Don’t come back with your lies. |
Are you seriously using guilt trips from a dead girl to try and garner sympathy for the man that killed her? That’s just creepy and weird. |
Which was weeks after the accident, which was the question posed. |
Keep those dead and injured girls out of your mouth. |
Deterrence is a part of it but punishment is also a major part of sentencing at criminal trials. |
is this a joke? |
How would money help them move forward? Its not like 14 year olds were breadwinners or raising families? |
Wow. You mean to tell us because she was so nice she would be okay with being mowed down by someone going 80 in a residential area without a driver license ? |
Medical Bills. Therapy. Punishment for the convicted. I would have a much harder time working in the future if my child was killed. |
Is he still in jail and why the delay in sentencing? |
Stop this. You won’t get out of being sued in a civil court. If your argument to a grieving parent is “ oh too bad your 14 year old didn’t make any money” I am telling you that will not go well |
For hospital costs, and funerals. Psychological help for family members, medical help with conditions that were the result of the stress, etc. Maybe in organizing a non-profit for young adult speeding awareness... |
Strange. 😳 |
That’s all hope and pray that Usman Shahid gets the maximal sentence of 20 years in jail. This is what he deserves. He took two lives. Stop arguing about other things on this thread. He needs to go to jail. |
