Navy Elementary New Principal

1. How did an email spiral into teacher bashing?! That’s disgusting and unnecessary. On the flip side, I’m going to get every teacher a shirt that says “I’m just here for the Starbucks and muffins”. Thanks for the idea.
2. I highly encourage you to walk a mile in the teachers’ shoes and go sub for a week before you pass judgement.
3. Shame on you for calling out a teacher by name. Why not share your name too?
4. The email was from another parent NOT a teacher.
5. When you resort to name calling, you’ve already lost the argument and you sound ignorant.
6. You can like the principal and he can be a great guy, but that doesn’t make him good at his job.
7. We are NOT a title 1 school nor a middle school nor a high school.
8. How does me forwarding an email make me unsuitable to teach kids? I’m not there to spy. The hours align with my kids and I enjoy it. At the end of the day, I’m a parent at Navy and I’m going to do what is in the best interest of my kids.

** Teachers, I’m genuinely sorry for the backlash this has caused.**

You're a really classy person! Very professional sending an email around to get someone fired by hijacking another schools meeting. And the "teacher bashing" was earned after the "principal bashing" began. In your #6 point you say he's not good at his job. You teachers/subs have yet to articulate any good reasons other than some made up controversies. Plenty of those incidents happened under the previous administration without so much as you all losing your minds. The truth is that you don't like this guy because you had a slacker boss before and now you have a guy that has implementing some basic standards.

But you are the lowest of the low now claiming victim status when you were the initial attacker. Do you have any decency and realize what you have done? To come to this board with such attitude and anger after what you did speaks volumes to your lack of character.

Not convinced it's really you, but if it is please consider the poor judgment exercised by forwarding that email. You aren't "just" a parent if you also work in the school. You can't untangle those two things even if you want to. You had to know that email would cause a backlash because it makes it look like teachers are gossiping to parents, which is inappropriate and unprofessional even if you are unhappy in your job. You say you want a rational discussion. Forwarding an email like that is certainly not the way to go about it.

I'm not going to defend the teacher bashing. Some parents may have legitimate concerns (which would be normal at any school) and clearly there are a couple of crazy people here. But you really have to consider the impact of that email regardless of your intent. I know you think your t-shirt idea is funny, but it honestly would make teachers look (even more) immature and unprofessional. Women and teachers have trouble being taken seriously in the working world. Don't make it worse. This drama is not in the best interest of anyone's kids.

100% I have written to the principal demanding that this sub is no longer allowed to sub at Navy. Disgusting!!!!

You have just been reported to Principal Simms Smith, Douglas Tyson, and Dr. Reid.

As a parent sub, you have no clue what makes a principal a good principal. Without working full time at a place, you are not in a position to proclaim he is not good at his job.

What makes you an expert on what a good principal is? You are defaming him. And if you don’t believe he is good, why are you working for him?

Respectfully I don’t know who you are, but:
1. What goes around comes around. Bashing begets bashing. Did you care for the Principals reputation? Do you care that you are not only ruining his current job but future jobs? As for the tshirts, go ahead and highlight which teachers are ungrateful for thing.

2. I highly encourage you to walk a mile in the principal’s shoes who was brought in to fix the mess created by the prior admin.

3. Why don’t you share your name? Is your name sub?

4. If the email is from a parent and not a teacher, how does this parent know what the teachers want? Are you are their union rep?

5. If you are going to resort to lying and baseless accusations, you’ve also lost the argument and sound ignorant.

6. You can like a teacher and think they are nice ppl, but see room for improvement.

7. Yes, you are a very privileged school with lots of donations and resources.

8. When you publicly lie about the leader of the school, you are unfit.

Yes, you should be sorry for throwing the teachers, principal, and parents under the bus. This is a backlash that you are responsible for.

The balls? More like stupidity. It was a stupid and reckless move on your part. No employee of FCPS should ever have forwarded that email which is a pack of lies. Thanks to you, hopefully this plan has been thwarted.

That line really says it all, doesn’t it? Just a complete lack of understanding of workplace norms.

Yes. And that is what makes her dangerous. She lacks common sense and decency. She should be no where near our kids at Navy.

On the upside, third grade classes next year will be really small because no one will want to send their child to your AAP Center after this crazy thread!

Maybe Crossfield can take the sub that hopefully is fired from Navy soon.

Things that didn’t happen. Nobody shared her name. People inferred based on clues. Where was your outrage when this particular teacher was posting on a teacher message board badmouthing her students? Yeah I have actual screenshots of it. I bet you didn’t know that, did you?

You all will get what you wanted…Teachers leaving Navy. However it won’t be the teachers that you want out. It’s going to be the good ones. The ones that genuinely care for the kids. The ones that are heavily requested. The ones that actually put in the effort and overtime for your kids. Your so called “Bad” teachers won’t have good references and referrals to move around schools.

This thread truly shows the nature of your ungrateful hearts. The Navy staff is well aware of this thread. Why would they want to serve a community that doesn’t respect them? But as stated, you will get what you wanted. A mass exodus. But it’s not going to be for the better. And that’s what some Parents and Staff are fighting for. Navy is a shell of what it used to be which is a sad thing.

I think it has to be a handful of people commenting negatively. I would not take the feelings of this thread as being indicative of the community. People can stick up for teachers while still supporting the principal. It's an ill bird that fouls it's own nest.
