Date app date visiting from west coast

Anonymous
I met someone online last week and just talked for the first time. He wants to see me this weekend and will fly in. Is it too soon? He seems normal but just find it a bit weird to meet so soon. Then again I'm getting older almost 40.

I like a bit more texting first personally.

Just don’t take them on a hike in the heat...

I'd do a deep background check first.

Personally, I welcome meeting sooner rather than later. Not interested in endless phone and text chats with someone I may meet F2F and find revolting.

Flying in from the west coast is strange. Probably married. Do you want a LDR with a married person? Cancel that

Yeah, this would set off all of my "ew you so desperate" flags IMMEDIATELY. No person of value flies across the country for a first date with someone they haven't met.

This. Just meet up somewhere public and take the normal precautions you would, such as doing your Googles and letting a friend know where you are going etc.

Is he staying with you?
If not, it’s just like any other date, but I do find it’s weird he’s willing to fly here so quickly. What will you do about the distance if you hit it off?

You can run a background check if you are nervous.

The only thing weirder than flying across the country to meet a stranger would be flying across the country to murder a stranger.

OP, there are men all over. I know within 5 minutes of meeting a man if there is chemistry. I'm also picky experienced and attractive. How long is he flying in for? What if you dislike him? What if you like him? Seems like a huge no from every angle.

I used to see profiles that had limits on distance and I can see why. This has so many red flags

Wait until he has some sort of “emergency” and wants op to wire him money for airfare.

I matched w/ someone while he was in town but couldn’t meet before he left. We stayed in touch and talked on the phone daily for weeks. He had to come back for a conference and stayed with me. I didn’t get murdered, he wasn’t married, etc. We wanted different things out of the relationship and we are best friends now. Everyone thought he was trying to scam me at first.,

Are you an heir to his estate in Barbados now too?

Something is wrong here. I agree.
