More accurate than US News. I'm safely assuming WSJ doesn't juke and social engineer their ranking with pointless diversity metrics. |
Unfortunately these rankings are proving themselves to be bullshit and pointless. Literally nobody is choosing Northwestern or Hopkins over Columbia, Penn, Cornell, and Dartmouth. And no, I'm not going to get into a debate with you cringe broken record trolls about "lower Ivies." |
Dumb lists and dumb comments... Never fails. |
Not a public university in the top 20. |
What? I know several kids who chose Northwestern and Hopkins over the schools you just listed, especially Cornell and Dartmouth. What are you smoking? |
Seriously. It's not even uncommon. From right here on DCUM last year. https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/877765.page I also know several kids who chose NU over Dart a few years back. |
There's only 1 public school in the top 20 on USNews and it's number 20. |
Because real life != message boards full of circle-jerking striver moms who couldn't afford (or couldn't get their kid into) private college and do nothing but wax on and on about how amazing their kid's public U is. In real life, the smartest kids at Virginia, Berkeley, UCLA and Michigan are JEALOUS of their friends at elite private colleges. |
USC shouldn't be ranked ahead of Emory, Cornell is a bit high, UPenn, U Chicago, and Columbia are too low. Other than that is a solid Ranking. |
73% of kids pick Penn over Northwestern and 83% over Johns Hopkins. 68% of kids pick Columbia over Northwestern and 80% over Johns Hopkins. 61% of kids pick Dartmouth over Northwestern and 59% over Johns Hopkins. 64% of kids pick Brown over Northwestern and 83% over Johns Hopkins. 55% of kids pick Cornell over Northwestern and 54% over Johns Hopkins. Yes, it's not uncommon, but it's still 1 out of 3 or 4 people. Most people still look at USNWR or to a lesser extent, Forbes as the golden standard for selectivity or educational outcomes. WSJ ranking, like Washington Monthly, is pretty useless. Princeton is ranked too low on this list. |
It's always about the same 20 schools. Just put them on ping pong balls and choose them out of a bucket.
