| I'd get 2 dozen. |
I rarely eat sugary breakfasts, but I’m still not understanding the absolute freak-out about OP having donuts for her guests on a single morning? |
Because a lot of people don’t want that and OP is not going to bother offer anything else. It’s hardly a freak out and more of a head scratcher. Do you typically offer guests 1 option only? |
what about the gluten free guests? Nothing for them? |
| Cake donuts, I hope. Not those mooshy raised ones. |
| Can you get a dozen bagels instead? |
I think donuts are a blue collar baby boomer thing. I don't know anyone who eats donuts in 2025. |
The OP makes it sound like they are all headed out to another family member’s house. So OP simply wanted something quick and easy with no cooking or clean up. People freaking out over literally one morning are something else. Lots of people eat differently over the holidays and if the super high maintenance adults are such perfect clean eaters, they’ll survive until lunch if they pass on the donuts. |
| Maybe you could serve banana or pumpkin bread instead. |
Hard boiled eggs could also work, or a few boxes of instant grits and instant oatmeal that could just be made in a mug with hot water! |
This high maintenance group would then have a whole debate about what kind of bagels, toasted or untoasted, and find issue with whatever cream cheese OP chose. It wouldn’t be sufficient either. |

Get two dozen doughnuts. Only if you decide to add something else…
I need to watch my carbs for health reasons, so adding bananas and sweetened yogurt wouldn’t really help me. I’d love it if you had options like Starbucks has in their little grab and go containers. If I could grab a hard boiled egg, some hunks of cheese, a handful of nuts, maybe a little fruit, that would be great. |

As a sole breakfast offering? That's so bad for all the people with elevated H1C. The worst is that most adults in the US have abnormal levels of H1C and they don't even know it. It leads to diabetes.
I know you're worried about being exhausted from your Thanksgiving efforts, but please do something else for the adults (hard boiled eggs? yogurt?). We can't expect to have European or Japanese longevities if we think multiple doughuts for breakfast is a normal thing. |
| I have not read all 8 pages on this topic but just noting that often the cost of 12 is not much ore than 6 donuts so it makes sense to buy in dozens. Get 2 dozen, Toss some f they do not get eaten...or freeze them. |
