The Sidley Summer Associate biter story is nuts....

She made a mistake. She's beyond aware. And hopefully she's learned a lesson.

But in a mom's forum, she's not a Casey Anthony, Mary Kay Letourneau, or Michaele Salahi. Please allow her the grace to try to move on and find a career for herself in a profession where people take on student debt. She is someone who cares deeply to repay these loans and use her education to better the world. The cyberbullying only serves to do the opposite.

Oh please. How do you know so much about her?

FWIW I’m currently stuck on a plane trying to get into DCA and this thread has been a saving grace. The other passengers are wondering why I can’t stop laughing.

This woman clearly has some mental health issues. Please be compassionate.

Medical issues is no excuse to be violent. I’m so sick of apologists for this kind of behavior.

Amen. What if she bit a client?

Or perhaps a judge?

Inappropriate and immature.

🙄 Get over it. At least some people still have a sense of humor.

+1. If this PP is inappropriate and immature, then what is the biter?

You are way too invested. No one is cyberbullying her. That's not what it means.

Then please explain why all of this--such as the forum here--and the posts here are okay, including the misinformation spread.

Because it's public information and it's true. You said she made a mistake. Most people's mistakes include boring things like speeding tickets. She's got a great opportunity to earn millions biting people on TikTok.

what does not being a public figure have to do with anything?

+1. The benefit she gets as not being a public figure is people aren't naming her.

Precisely. I have no idea who she is, and would like it to stay that way.

She was smart enough to get into Harvard law, she'll be fine.

I told my daughter this story and she asked if the associate in question is Asian or an uwu/oo woo girl trying to be cute or funny. Apparently biting is a thing? She said her Chinese friends gently bite their friends on the shoulder as a greeting.

This sounds vaguely racist to me.

My daughter with predominantly Asian friends is racist?

+100. Totally inappropriate

Loser attorney trying to seem funny and cool to younger summer associate. I’ve seen your type too often.

Perhaps a tad racist for your daughter to make that guess. But at least you are a mom on here and you are using it to check in on your daughter, so I applaud you more than the many other people on here who do not seem to be moms or any non-nefarious purpose other than lines such as "I NEEED to know" probably to laugh about a story on tik-tok that was been very twisted and contorted far from the reality of it.

And Aquagirl got an offer.

She got a cold offer from Cleary if i remember right.

What’s a cold offer?

Unless things have changed, when I was a summer associate around that time, a cold offer meant that you were free to tell other firms that you had received an offer so as not to harm your future job-seeking efforts, but no, you were not in fact welcome to return to that particular firm. Aquagirl landed a gig at another Biglaw firm.

IDK, I sort of feel that if you go to work as a summer and bite people, then at least on some level you wanted notoriety. If it doesn’t feel the way you thought it would, too bad.

Laughing on a plane might get you bit. Peak annoying

No, never wanted notoriety. Is this what the DC moms tell their children? If you do something at school that's inappropriate, you may have your story twisted all over social media and mommy message boards because one of the incel boys feels the need to react in a certain way online?
