Someone must have gotten out of bed on the wrong side this morning…..then had someone pee in their Corn Flakes.
Why would an 8AM text bother you? And more importantly - Who in this day + age sleep w/their phone ringers turned on…..??! Gone are the days when a set alarm on a cellphone 📱 would automatically turn on sound whenever a call or text would come in. |
Sorry I did not see this in the original post. But are there settings for this >> such as the Do Not Disturb setting. |
|
I go to sleep at 7:30-8pm, and wake up at 4am.
I used to pause and think if I shouldn't respond to my missed-evening texts when I woke up at 4am. Then I thought, if you're too stupid or lazy to set up specific alerts on your phone, then you deserve to be woken up. If you have a cellphone, YOU ALONE are responsible for it. Not everyone else. Set your own damn alerts/silencing. |
You sound crazy. People are not responsible for the texts they send? Only the recipient is responsible? Delulu land. |
| You don’t have to respond right away. I got a ton of texts starting at 7:00 this morning. I answered the first wave at around 11:00 when I was sitting outside and enjoying the beautiful weather. You’re lucky that people are thinking about you. |
People aren't responsible for how you feel about the time of day texts are sent. Of course the recipient is responsible for their own alerts. You think everyone should remember your personal schedule? Now that's extreme delulu. |

Haven't read all these but... I am so grateful for the texts I got from the mothers and no mothers in my life today. Every single one of them is part of the community (village if you prefer) that I'm parenting in, and I welcome any chance to strengthen that bond.
To OP and every other mother on this thread - Happy Mother's Day (I'll refrain from the bouquet emoji haha)

You are responsible for how you handle your phone. My DND allows my favorites to always get through. I can make anyone my favorite or remove anyone at anytime. |

SNL needs to do a sketch about this as a PSA to the clueless.
While you can send an email at any time of the day or night, you simply cannot call or text someone late at night or first thing in the morning unless it’s an emergency. Period. |
| I agree! I apologize to my mom friends on the West Coast. I sent a text at a normal time but you may have received it at a not so normal time. So sorry! |
Thank you! You are reasonable! |
|
I set my phone on DND at night and only calls and texts from numbers that I choose come through (DH and DCs). Yes, there is a chance that someone else might call or text with and emergency, but I am ok with the risk that I will sleep through it given that other random stuff might wake me up.
Also I have an Apple Watch so during the day my alerts buzz on my arm and my phone hasn’t made a noise in years. If your phone is dinging loudly for texts you are annoying everyone all day long, and waking up to a text could be karma. Just sayin. |
No no no. Learn to use DND!!! |
Why can't you send a text to someone late at night or first thing in the morning? Why are you so lazy about your phone settings? Do you not have friends and family that ever travel? Live in different time zones? Don't work a 9-5, or DO work a 9-5, but are busy during the work day? |
They will be making fun about the people not knowing how to use DND. |
