Don't text at 8 AM to say Happy Mothers Day

Anonymous
My college student texted me at 2:30 AM and I saw it when I woke up. I appreciated that he was thinking of me.

I think it’s so weird for women to wish other women HMD.

It’s a holiday for kids to celebrate their moms/grandmothers. Period.

My do not disturb turns off around 8. Doesn’t mean I want to get an early text

DP. Maybe change your settings to when you’re ready to receive?

DP i will never be ready to recieve a HMD text from my coworker early Sunday morning. I have professional boundaries

Well you don’t if they have your cell number and they feel comfortable texting you. I doubt someone has never texted your personal cell prior and then started this morning.

Seems like a least a few others feel this way...

Because this site is full of women who want to be miserable and find any excuse to do so.

I don’t mind the texts but feel they are a bit overboard. My kids are older. My husband is buying bagels and we’re having brunch with my in laws. It’s work for him, which I don’t think is necessary. I like just a verbal happy Mother’s Day or flowers (I bought potted flowers for myself yesterday). I’m just not into being the center of attention.

It’s called Do Not Disturb. It’s a modern marvel.

I'm a DINK and I get next level passive aggressive behavior from some people (friends) if I don't acknowledge. I've settled on a a message in the group chat to all of them. I can't win apparently.

There are more complaints on DCUM about Mother's Day not being celebrated in just the right way than any other holiday.

You keep your phone by your bed? Don’t do that.

Some women might have mothers. I am not a biologist.

Anonymous wrote:The Op has a point. The HMD texts are not coming from her kids. They are coming from outsiders who she is not the mom to. People have over sensationalized this made up holiday. Let the kids treat mom today. Have you noticed how every mom friend, sister, aunt, etc. send these HMD texts? It’s gone over board. I can see how that irritated the Op.

This. So far I’ve gotten messages from coworkers and my kid’s babysitter. With the little bouquet emojis. They were on silence so they didn’t wake me up but it’s a little silly.

No wonder people here are so miserable. Even nice gestures bother them.

Wow, grow up.

More than a mimosa! If no one was sending her HMD messages, she would complain. Salty beyach…

Do not disturb?

People can’t win. Damned if you don’t wish promptly, damned if you do!

Really, some people on Mother’s Day are looking for any excuse to get offended.
