FBI Headquarter Plans in Limbo?

Anonymous
As reported by the NYTimes, Patel vows to close the DC FBI HQ, possibly to relocate everyone not in the field to Alabama, where a new facility was recently built.

Trump however still wants to build a grand, palatial, new FBI HQ in DC. With the new federal mandate for a civic architecture that follows the classical tradition of Ancient Rome and Greece, it should look stunning, for those who like ancient Roman architecture. Corinthian marble columns, with the capitals gilded in gold, beautiful sculptural friezes depicting historical events, etc.

I think they want to keep the FBI headquarters there because the Justice Department is across the street and are always getting together on cases.

Yep. Gov. Moore needs to find a real plan for economic development that is not reliant on the government.

I don't see that happening. Moore doesn't seem to do much. The state is losing population and has little corporate presence. Meanwhile taxes will probably go up.

Wes Moore has an absolutely dismal record as governor.

- over spent state budget
- raised taxes
- paid a mint to keep Orioles and Ravens
- loses Commanders
- loses FBI HQ

Aside from smiling at photo ops, what exactly does this guy do?

Moore is a loser. Not surprising, since he had zero elected-office experience when he sat down in the governor's chair. WTH Maryland.

I hope somebody decent runs against him.

I would think so. Brining all those agents in for grand jury cases will cost a lot for per diem otherwise.

FBI Director Kash Patel wants to move jobs to field offices, Alabama complex

that’s 1100 jobs that aren’t coming back.

There’s a big FBI building in Huntsville. There’s a big federal presence in Huntsville in general, actually. It’s funny how when the federal jobs are in your red state/district, they’re suddenly “good jobs” for “patriots.” But when they’re in DC or anywhere else, it’s wasteful pork barrel spending.

I am not in a red state, I am here.. I have no interest in Alabama, just asking. And yes I agree with you about the disgusting rhetoric.

It appears that for the remaining FBI employees assigned to HQ, a new new building will be build somewhere in DC. It will be a monumental building.

Latest scoop from Axios: The GOP platform explicitly called for making D.C. "the Most Beautiful Capital City," and a new FBI headquarters could be "the centerpiece of his beautification plans for the city," Shubow tells Axios.

Hmmm not seeing funding anywhere there.

Wouldn’t the funding come from the pot previously allocated for the Greenbelt HQ? Although Trump’s imperial Rome aesthetic will likely add to the project budget.

Looks like the FBI HQ will soon be up for sale, according to yesterday’s Post article. Along with the Old Post Office across the street and much of Federal Triangle, as DOGE seeks to sell off the government’s real estate assets.

FBI plans to move to Maryland more and more unlikely. Trump during his speech today at the Justice Department said he wanted the HQ to remain downtown and to specifically not go to Maryland, which he labeled a “liberal state.”

No surprise with this.

I am not a trump supporter but always believed the HQ should remain in DC.
