Hogwash. I'm someone who goes a long time between cuts. My hair doesn't take any more time to cut. I just went to a very experienced stylist and my hair hadn't been cut in over a year. She gave me a fast cut that looks fine other than, like every other stylist I've used, she completely ignored how much I wanted her to take off so my hair is too short. It's one of the reasons I rarely get my hair cut. |
Girl that's a contract. |

This all sounds reasonable. When people cancel and no show, they lose money and it wastes their time.
When someone books time out of your day, you can’t take other clients. They have likely turned down other clients for that spot after you booked it. They have rent to pay, be considerate. |
| I understand it but also do not want to be annoyed by extra work for a service I already pay for especially since I always do show up on time and have only ever cancelled one thing last minute for illness. Other people's flakiness should not become my personal burden. |
I have a lot of thick hair. It is long. The only person who took that long to cut my hair didn't know what they were doing. Novices tend to start cutting, get lost and continue to cut away trying to get things even. I know they don't know what they are doing when a cut takes a long time. |
I agree that no one seems to do precision cuts. I've gone to high end salons and I have the same complaints. They also never listen to what I want and always cut much more off than I want. I'm fed up now. I usually stay quiet but now I'm going to complain. Also if you leave me lounging in the bowl with a wet head while you start another client, I'm going to get up and walk out. One stylist at one of the nicer salons did that while the owner watched. He also destroyed the shirt I was wearing with bleach. He accused me of changing the color myself when I saw him 2 days later. These people are insane and I won't pay for this anymore. |
| My stylist owns her own business and takes on all the risk so I try to be as supportive as possible of the policies that help her stay in business. Not sure how this contract differs from a standard cancellation policy but if it’s similar, then it’s fine. |
NP. I get that you are being snarky, but a Haircuttery really helped me once when I left a high-end salon after a really bad encounter that caused me physical pain. (And not for anything like dye, braids, or an updo or anything that might require a bit of discomfort--just a cut and blow-dry.) I walked out after my pain was repeatedly ignored, hair wet and half-done. Walked into a Haircuttery, and they took me then and there with very few questions asked, just needed enough info to get me back on track. I will forever be grateful to how kind and skilled they were. |
| I think it's great that they are making you sign a contract. More hairstylists need to protect themselves from no-shows. I would request 50% down if I was the stylist. |
| NP and I honestly love HairCuttery. Very very few people truly have hair so complicated that they need expensive salons. |
Hair Cuttery is amazing for a very reasonably priced "make it look like I did a really really good job myself" special occasion hair when you are going to a wedding or something. |
The folks working there are this side of trafficked at the rate they’re paid. I’m so glad it’s affordable for you. |
