Is it cultural appropriation for my (white) DD to wear beads in her hair?

It IS cultural appropriation and it's also fine.

Every Karen who looks deep enough in her soul finds that her supposedly progressive take on cultural appropriation is really her desire not to culturally mix with POC or the poors.

What culture is being appropriated

Mom, I want to wear my hair like my Black friends!

"No dear, that's for them."

It's fine. Stop being so sensitive. Look at Bo Derek in 10. Good Lord what is wrong with you people. Why must you judge all the time? get a life

I am a black woman.

When OP's describes this situation, all I can think is that it is so cute that this sweet little five-year-old wants the same hairstyle as her friends. I think it is incredibly sweet and if I saw it, I wouldn't have a single negative thought.

My asian girl does not have any black friends. She saw some white girls with color in their hair, and I let her have fairy hair like them. They come in different color, so op, maybe ask her if she wants fairy hair.

I think Dutch braids with cute hair ties at the ends would achieve what she’s looking for

But then the Dutch will get all worked up.

Person of Dutch descent here. Please do not use our hairstyles if you are from another culture. Dutch braids have certain cultural meaning to us that is simply not generalizable to people of non-Dutch descent.

Belgians know how offensive it is to us Dutch if they parade their children in our braids. Never forget the Braid Wars of Baarle-Nassau.

I'm so sick of this cultural appropriation nonsense! Just perpetuates division and inequality.

Why don't you ask her friends moms how they would feel about it?
