How exatctly do AAP parent's demands effect you?

Only a narcissistic AAP parent would ask this. Your snowflakes are taking resources away from the normal grounded children at this school. Your demands take time, energy, and focus away from the education that the rest of our children are receiving.

I don't see how AAP parent take anything from the PBL classrooms.

You don't see how your incessant whining and questions and stupid requests take time away from admin who could be focusing on, for example, having an IEP or 504 meeting or searching for an IA for special kids?

All kids have a right to have their educational needs met, not just special ed students.

To the other pp complaining that the AAP process isn’t fair or transparent…FCPS’s AAP selection process is best practice- cited as the way to offer advanced education by numerous nationwide sources. The external review of FCPS AAP program was very positive and FCPS has made the changes that it did recommend.

I heard that Navy staff can’t stand the new admin. Too bad. The kids love the new principal - he’s very hands on and actually interacts with the kids.

Liar. The only people complaining are the ones who received favoritism from the old principal.

Here’s the link to the external review of AAP: https://www.fcps.edu/academics/academic-overview/advanced-academic-programs-aap/review-fairfax-county-public-schools. The last three years have included budget items to fund the recommendations made by the review and they also added local norms a couple of years ago.

Here’s one national report - the link goes to the summary, the mention of FCPS as a positive example is in the full report: https://fordhaminstitute.org/national/research/building-wider-more-diverse-pipeline-advanced-learners. There are other mentions that you can Google if you want more.

So the first one is from 2020. It's totally different now than in 2020. Find something from 2023. The second one, obviously is really reaching and has an agenda. What does George Floyd have to do with fcps AAP and at navy? Also AAP is done by school and not by FCPS as a whole. This is definitely a change from prior years and gives an advantage to kids from lower performing schools.

You sound unhinged. Have any of these things actually happened to you?

NP but I love how the new DCUMommy insult is "you sound unhinged". I'm curious if you ever used this phrase before hearing it on DCUM or not?

Nor do you. Get over yourself, there has been ONE WEEK of school. Teachers have been back TWO WEEKS. Stop trying to stir up trouble and give the guy a chance. I will never understand people like you who are so scared of change.

please don’t bring your dog to the bus stop. Our ES bus stop turned into a dog park with bored parents chatting and letting their dogs play in the adjacent yard and dogs barking or jumping up on little kids. You think your dog is well behaved but I’d argue that one dog is one too many.

Horrible way to start the day for little kids who are scared of dogs - having to stand far away from your dog, boarding the bus crying. Just stop.

What about dogs at school pickup? Even worse.

THANK YOU! As a parent of a child who has been charged at twice by unleashed dogs while minding their own business and is super afraid, just stop. I do not care how gentle your dog is, how they wouldn't hurt a fly, how they are just excited and love kids, are a puppy in training, how I should get a dog of my own to fix my child, etc. just leave them home.

They are not allowed on any FCPS property. Of course, some parents will think that such rules do not apply to them. Hopefully the new principal will hold those parents accountable and shut down this behavior.
Not Navy, but my child was bitten by a leashed dog outside school about 4-5 years ago. She was a safety patrol at the walkers area. She actually had pet this dog numerous times. No one knows why on this day, the dog lunged when she went to pet him. I’ll never forget getting a call at work that she’d been bit and was fine, but needed a ride (she was a walker) I pulled up to an ambulance and animal control. She needed 10 stitches across her nose. The plastic surgeon called into the ER said she was very lucky. Turned out the AP had not yet seen the injury but also wanted me to remain calm. Dogs do not belong at pickup. Kids movements can be erratic and unexpected, and animals are unpredictable.

It's a common phrase that did not originate with DCUM. Maybe you should read other things if you think such thoughts came from this group of geniuses.

That's so awful. I hope the dog owner had some consequences.

Lol. You don’t know jack. The staff at Navy is not happy with the changes admin has made. In fact, several have complained openly out in public places.
