Liar. The only people complaining are the ones who received favoritism from the old principal.

You have no idea what you are talking about.

Nor do you. Get over yourself, there has been ONE WEEK of school. Teachers have been back TWO WEEKS. Stop trying to stir up trouble and give the guy a chance. I will never understand people like you who are so scared of change.

Lol. You don’t know jack. The staff at Navy is not happy with the changes admin has made. In fact, several have complained openly out in public places.

Sure they have. Keep on living up to your reputation Navy parents!

How exatctly do AAP parent's demands effect you?

Only a narcissistic AAP parent would ask this. Your snowflakes are taking resources away from the normal grounded children at this school. Your demands take time, energy, and focus away from the education that the rest of our children are receiving.

I don't see how AAP parent take anything from the PBL classrooms.

You don't see how your incessant whining and questions and stupid requests take time away from admin who could be focusing on, for example, having an IEP or 504 meeting or searching for an IA for special kids?

All kids have a right to have their educational needs met, not just special ed students.

To the other pp complaining that the AAP process isn’t fair or transparent…FCPS’s AAP selection process is best practice- cited as the way to offer advanced education by numerous nationwide sources. The external review of FCPS AAP program was very positive and FCPS has made the changes that it did recommend.

Care to share your sources?

Here’s the link to the external review of AAP: https://www.fcps.edu/academics/academic-overview/advanced-academic-programs-aap/review-fairfax-county-public-schools. The last three years have included budget items to fund the recommendations made by the review and they also added local norms a couple of years ago.

Here’s one national report - the link goes to the summary, the mention of FCPS as a positive example is in the full report: https://fordhaminstitute.org/national/research/building-wider-more-diverse-pipeline-advanced-learners. There are other mentions that you can Google if you want more.

So the first one is from 2020. It's totally different now than in 2020. Find something from 2023. The second one, obviously is really reaching and has an agenda. What does George Floyd have to do with fcps AAP and at navy? Also AAP is done by school and not by FCPS as a whole. This is definitely a change from prior years and gives an advantage to kids from lower performing schools.

AAP is done by FCPS. LLIV is by school. 2020 is plenty recent and relevant. You don’t seem capable of research or analysis so no point trying to educate you.

I’m starting to see why the old principal needed a drink.

I don't need YOU to educate me. AAP is done by FCPS per school. It was one of the changes last year so no 2020 is not relevant. Shows what you know. Go take your arrogance and educating and shove it.

NP. What do you mean “by school”? There is still a central committee to determine if your child is eligible for AAP. Then you can decide if you want your child to go to the center or do local level IV. Not all schools have local level IV though.

Wow , this is unhinged. Maybe these people just want to make sure that Navy will never be overcrowded. I can't imagine wanting to be at this school with all of these insane posts. For the record I'm sure admin is fine and is enjoying the weekend. Go ahead and do the same.

I don’t have specific info but a lot of teachers got assigned to new grades on pretty short notice. The change in back to school night for at seemed to throw some of them too. They had to shorten their usual presentations by a lot and it was hard for them to cover all the important info in the time allotted. I don’t think that change would have been a big deal if more notice had been given.

But I’m sure the teachers will handle the changes like the professional adults they are. Everyone has to deal with an experience where they don’t love their new boss. Best to stay away from the people doing nothing but complaining. That can make the work environment get toxic pretty quickly.

If I had a $1 for everytime someone called someone unhinged in this thread, I'd have like $10.

I'm sure the teachers will be fine. No one likes change. They'll adjust and we should stop spreading rumors, it's kind of demoralizing.
