Feedback on VLC Club Lacrosse?

Anonymous
2025 and 2024 class years should have very little change this year as players get deeper into recruiting focus. How did the other VLC teams do? With the CAV additions are the fielding two teams at the younger ages? Let's move on from the 2025 team.

Is there an updated website showing all of the VLC college commits. Only one I could find is several years old.

You need to follow the social media site. The website is really out of date. The current 2023 class may be the best in recruiting since 2019 they have 10+ and counting.

Let's put it this way, in 2022 they won 6 games and lost 15 games, including being 0 and 5 at the NLF national championship and 1 and 4 at Big 4 Champions, so they are a weak team and they could obviously use some better players. Particularly attack because they've always had a problem scoring points. They've had a three coaches in three years and it wouldn't surprise me if they got a new coach after the 2022 season of fail.

Is this same poster's kid still on the team? This has to be the same poster who has had an axe to grind with this team for some time. Either you have a kid on the team which is strange that you would keep him on the team or you don't which may even be more strange that you obsess over the team and track the team record. This team will be entering recruiting season soon and all that matters is that they will play in the NAL/Crabfeast/Big 4/and NLF events that coaches attend. If a kid can play VLC/NL/ML/DCE will get the kid a chance to get recruited. Tracking stats?? Not so much
The answer to your question is B, the poster's son left the team, and the poster has now been obsessing over the team and its record for some time. If the poster's son was killing it on a new team, the poster would have moved on by now. Just saying. But any post about the VLC 2025 team will draw a detailed response from this guy, guaranteed, so get the popcorn.

Let's leave his son out of it. His son didn't ask for this.

It is hard to separate the son's experience on the team from the poster's obsession. People only kick into this gear when their DD or DS had a bad experience. it is not as if the poster chose a random team out of a hat to track its every move and report to DCUM.

It doesn't sound like you know this family. Not to get into specifics, but I know the parent is doing their best with the gifts and limitations that they have, same as the rest of us. Hypothetically, it can be a real lonely challenge for a child when their parent has a different way of processing and seeing the world.

If you do know the family, perhaps you could counsel the poster to cool it?

That is a good thought but I no longer in contact with them.

There is another parent from my DS's school who seems very similar, and no amount of pleading, insulting, or counseling has been helpful with their FB posting habits on the school pages, so I wonder if this is something that just needs to be ignored, or redirected, or empathized with.

I am sorry that they are frustrated with their experience, and that must really feel dis-empowering for them. Not everyone handles frustration in the most constructive manner, so maybe we could all be adults and post in adult-like ways as good examples or just scroll on.

I don't think any new 25 parents are coming here for info at this point since the teams are mostly set by HS, and the boys all know each other and can ask around if they want to switch teams vs. having parents do the recon, so there's no harm I see in ignoring the negative posts.

It is very curious that some people want to talk only about the supposed identity and motives of the former team parent, and nobody wants to talk about the actual performance of the team this year, which is a verifiable fact. It’s almost like someone wants to divert attention from the verifiable facts. What could be their motive for doing so, I wonder?

This sounds like a conversation between two people about one team. I agree what about the rest of the program. How is 2024 setting up for recruiting. How are the younger teams doing with tryouts? 2025 is the least important in terms of a clubs trajectory at this point.

Could someone post the schools the 2023 kids are committing to?

Lots of D3 liberal arts schools. Great schools, do not mean this at a slight. Still interesting.

This looks like it’s missing a bunch. Check their Instagram, it looks like it has everyone listed there including one from today.

Another D1 commit posted on Social Media. Large state school. Most D3 are NESCAC schools.
