DH wants to wear an old man flat cap — help me

Baseball caps just look sloppy unless you are out in full son.

Beckham looks hot.

I like the hat.

My husband is over 50, bald, overweight, and is welcome to wear whatever he likes on his head. It has nothing to do with me.

I absolutely love these caps and always have. They’re so classic and men look great in them, especially with a matching scarf!

better than a fedora.

better than wearing baseball caps in online dating pics (I know your husband isn't online dating, but I just had to share my horrible flashbacks from browsing online dating profiles--so many ball caps)

OP already said her DH wanted it mostly for shade and rain protection, he just wants a more age appropriate fashion but perhaps overcorrected!

My DH is above 50 with a boyish face and he has very similar hat. It looks cute on him. I like it.

OP should just do Pavlovian training and stare at photos of Beckham in that hat, so she has that image every time her DH dons his.

He wants to stop wearing baseball caps — he says it feels like a young man’s look, like he is dressing like a teenager trying to be cool.

So he has got a flat cap or Englishman’s cap. He says Beckham sports them, and I say he’s no Beckham.

Any suggestions on how to steer him into better head wear? He likes wearing hats for the shade and keeping rain off his glasses — he had a full head of (grey) hair so he doesn’t need to wear a hat as actual sun protection like when bald.

Let him be

This is how your husband feels when you wear those wide leg jeans.

If he likes it, he should wear it. A man who feels confident looks better than a man who is wearing something he doesn't like, regardless of how much cooler the alternative something is on its own.

I think my 19 year old might love that hat. Thanks for the Christmas idea.

I don’t hate them but yeah, it’s so try hard.

Most men have short hair, or no hair, so maybe it feels weird for them to go out w/o something on their head, like they feel to exposed to elements without it. My dad is like that, he won't just walk out the house bareheaded, he has a collection of ballcaps by the door and he will throw one one when leaving. He is a boomer, so maybe that is part of they, they are the generation that saw their dads wear hats everywhere.

The Irish call this a scally cap. I prefer the solid colors vs the tweeds.

P.S. David Beckham can wear any kind of hat or nothing at all 😜
