We are looking to move to historic Takoma Park from Capitol Hill and are excited to see the coming soon listing on 7210 Willow Ave:

Could folks in the neighborhood please share any info about the house, street, if there are many families nearby with kids, and anything else that may be useful to know. Thank you! |

NP. Which house? If the first, how do you know with no interior pics? If the second, “need” is really relative and lots of young families can deal with an older kitchen. Anyway, the first house has the better location and is closer to the metro. I used to live on Flower and the second is a bus ride away from the metro. |

Willow is a very nice street and the entire city of Takoma Park is crawling with children. Your kids will be able to walk to school with buddies through middle school.
I don’t know about that particular house but can walk by and report back! IMO this one is a better location than the Flower Ave house. |

PS, is that an Aga stove in the kitchen? The cabinets aren’t of the moment, but they’re not horrible at least in the pics. |

I live a block away from the house on Willow. The house is on a nice quiet street with tons of kids - easy walking distance to elementary schools, middle school, metro and downtown TP - you couldn't ask for a better location. They've been working on it for a while so I'm curious to see the inside but generally the layout of those style of houses is pretty good. I think the backyard is on the small side but can't be sure.
I like the house on the Flower too but I wouldn't want to live on that section of Flower. Super busy, lots of buses and traffic. |

That house needs some serious renovation/upgrades. It looks nice on the outside and has imo a nice backyard. However, interior is another story. The dark wood trim everywhere looks meh/really old imo and really darkens the place too. I also think it's a little overpriced, but I don't know the Tacoma area well enough to be certain of that. Schools (going off the greatschopls ranking which I know not everyone is a fan off) also seem fairly bad (especially the elementary). |

The Flower ave kitchen is really cool! I love the stove. The cabinets while not my taste, are beautiful

The dark wood trim is actually faithful to the period (1910s-1940s?). If you don't like it, you can hire a painter for $2,000, not $200k, to paint the trim white. You're basically saying it's not to your taste. Which is fine, but don't come on here and tell OP it shouldn't be to her taste either and she'll have to sink an outlandish $200k. |
