Um........It's impossible to see it any other way anymore. I'm so sad about what has happened in the Rep. party.

I'd pass up a house with a Trump sign b/c I wouldn't want to live next to anyone who could openly support that type of hate. You can't ask them to take down the sign, but I'd seriously consider delaying the listing for a few weeks.

I actually feel far less hate coming from the Trump camp than I do from the Hillary camp. And I totally mean that.

Then you haven't been paying attention.

Reread this thread.

In this thread, HRC supporters are saying they don't want to live next to a Trump supporter. So lets say that HRC supporters are indicating their hate Trump supporters. Fair enough. Trump supporters, by way of their vocal support of the man, are indicating they hate Mexicans, Blacks, Gays, and Latinos. And I totally mean that.

And you would be totally wrong. But don't let that stop you from hating...

If i was black, Hispanic or Muslim it would deter me for sure. As a white liberal, I would just think they were idiots and we won't be friends.

I would be really concerned. We are a white Muslim family. Did you read that article by the realtor in Frederick a month or so ago? A Muslim family was trying to buy a house in a neighborhood up there, and the neighbors were really nasty to the family as they toured things like the community room, pool, and gym.

And you immediately assume that the harassers were Trump supporters? What if you found out that they were HRC supporters or people who don't even vote.

This idea that by supporting HRC PROVES that you are not a racist is baloney.

Supporting anyone but Trump (doesn't have to be HRC) doesn't "prove" anything. But statistically, a person who supports Trump is much more likely to be racist. There are low-information voters who don't really listen to all of Trump's racist screeds, and just want to vote for someone who isn't HRC. But those types don't generally put a sign in their yard.

My 15 year old daughter was just recently assaulted by someone who was screaming (no exaggeration) about Trump kicking all the Muslims out. She wears a head scarf, so is an easy target. People who don't value diversity are not the type of neighbors I want.

And the vast majority of Trump supporters are peaceful people. I can absolutely have a Trump sign in my yard without being hateful/racist. To me the sign says: Let's make America Strong Again. Anything BUT Hillary.

But I also think that this country needs a business minded President who can straighten out what is making it so difficult for companies (and jobs) to stay in this country.

I don't know Trump personally, he is a loud mouth and he misspeaks A LOT. But I really do not think that he hates minorities and women at all.

I am embarrassed to live by people that have Barbara Trumpstock signs. A right wing Republican lawyer that made a living out of attacking democrats and wasting taxpayer money on partisan fishing expeditions.

http://bluevirginia.us/2016/08/email-exposes-barbara-comstock-personally-directing-political-attack-machine

McLean – In an exclusive, late-breaking news story today, the Loudoun Times-Mirror revealed internal emails that expose the real Barbara Comstock, someone who has “worked since her 2014 election to appear a congresswoman focused on her constituent services and disinterested in the nitty-gritty politics of campaigns.” In fact, the article exposes email communication between Comstock herself, her Deputy Chief of Staff, and a staffer at the National Republican Congressional Committee, in which she is personally directing negative attacks against her opponent. The email, “offers a peek inside her role as a political and media strategist.”

“This Loudoun Times-Mirror article pulls back the curtain on the real Barbara Comstock, a career political operative, mudslinger and opposition researcher who above all else feels most at home personally directing attacks against her political opponents,” said Bennett campaign spokesperson Robert Howard. “It is not surprising that the day after Donald Trump visits her district, the Congresswoman is personally at the helm of a deceptive negative campaign to try to distract 10th district voters from her support for Donald Trump and the divisive and extreme agenda they share. The voters of the 10th district deserve a Congresswoman whose primary concern is serving her constituents, not preserving her own political career.”

Long before holding elected office, Barbara Comstock made her name as a Republican party operative and opposition researcher.

She was the primary architect and energy behind Dan Burton’s investigations of the Clintons. Wasted MILLIONS of taxpayer money.

No, you can not ask your neighbor to take down the sign so you can sell your house. Are you even being serious?

I hate Trump, but:

1. It would not deter me if I loved everything else about the house.
2. I understand your concern as this election has really divided the nation. If this deters even one prospect, that is one too many. If you are serious about selling your home and getting top dollar by not limiting your pool, wait until the election is over to put your home on the market.

What's your objective evidence?

Objective Evidence: There is no way in Hell that Trump could have become so successful in business while both hating minorities and women and treating them terribly.

The climate in business has changed. Women and minorities now demand respect and equal opportunities. And Trump has employed many women and minorities over the years.

I have also heard about some of his work on the campaign trail. Trump is taking the time to talk to people of varying backgrounds. He appears to be actually listening to them.

The sign doesn't indicate "Republican," it indicates someone who feels that a racist, sexist lunatic should be running this country. PLUS the fact that they are "in your face" and likely aggressive about it. Anyone vocally supporting Trump at this point isn't anyone I'd want to live next to. It's right up there with the Confederate flag for me.

Persian here. Having lived next to a Trump-type - I can tell you, it is worse than you think. The hate some people have for humanity is very real. Calling the police for no reason, then watching out their window as the police cars screech onto the lawn. Good times.

I would 100% stop looking at a house if it was adjacent to a person displaying a Trump sign. That would be a hard no for me.

The more people reduce all Trump voters into the the simplistic package of "racist misogynists" the more we are doomed to go through this entire shitshow again. I know many Trump supporters, and they have serious grievances with government spending, government regulations, and historical abuses by the Clintons. They are not wrong about one thing - if Clinton elected, nothing is going to change. The Congress will not substantially change, and if they blocked Obama on everything, they will NEVER work with her. I happen to think the Trump supporters have a very simplistic view of the universe, and are wrong in thinking that Trump would be able to bring about any change for the better, even according to their definition.

If I saw the signs, I'd presume your neighbors are old farts.

OP here.

To address previous questions, we are selling now because we are moving overseas in January and have no relatives nearby to handle the sale. I agree that spring would be a more ideal time to sell.

Our realtor visited this afternoon to finalize staging and she immediately commented on the Trump sign. (It is quite big on a small lawn).

So that concern prompted me to visit my neighbor. We have always exchanged pleasantries but do not talk much - they are in their 70s and we have little in common. I told her we are moving and putting the house on the market, and that because of the divisive nature of this campaign, we worry that political signs in general might scare some buyers. She said she completely understands, does not even like Trump much, but her husband is a big fan. Fortunately he was not home. So she went outside with me and removed the sign.

Baking brownies for them now. There is some good in the world, even in 2016.

Thing is i would rather live next to Trump supporter than a Muslim family that really believes in sharia law and all the other crazy religions superstitions and keeps their women in black clothes head to toe
