This. I am a minority and this would really deter me.

Do you really a trump sign to realize the general thoughts of white people when it comes to minorities moving into a neighborhood? Statements like yours would only serve to get more tump signs put up even in places like historic Takoma Park or Captiol Hill.

Our neighbor's house sold quickly to a lovely (republican) couple. Just ignore the sign.

Republicans tend to be very open with living around and socializing with people of all kinds of religious and political beliefs.

Liberals do not. They tend to want to shrink their worlds to only people who think and believe just like them.

That is where OP is running into a problem woth the roughly half of liberal potential buyers, where your neighbor did not have the same issue since republicans are okay with diversity of thought in their neighborhoods.

This kind of binary thinking is why we are in the current political mess. I ask you to stop contributing to a patently untrue and divisive dialouge.

Signed, a "liberal" who knows plenty of accepting and open-minded people of different beliefs and party affiliation.

Why do you say that?

The bolded statement is, in general, true.

Just look at this thread. One or two liberals telling OP she is being silly, and the rest of the posters saying having a trump supporter next door would absolutely be a deal breaker for them because they can't imagine a scenario where they could be friendly with this person or want their kids to play together.

Liberals, particularly dc area liberals, do not want to be around any differing beliefs whatsoever. They only want to be around those who believe and think just like them. This thread is a great example of that kind of liberal attitude.

This site is this site. it is not life.

I cannot believe this is a serious question.

OP, you are an idiot. Plain and simple.

Not the PP, but can you try again to make your point? Nothing in these two sentences makes sense.

+1. And it's not like the neighbor is supporting Trump, they feel compelled to display a sign in a neighborhood where they know it won't convince anyone. I would definitely be on the lookout for other signs of antisocial tendencies.

In this country we get to support and vote for the candidate that we want to. We are allowed to show our support for the candidate by putting a sign in our yard or a sticker on our car.

Bullying people into being too scared to put a danged sign in their yard is pretty....hostile actually. Might want to think about that.

I hope OP's neighbor keeps the sign up past the election.

This. 100X this.

It would put me off, but I don't think you can/should say anything.

The one Trump sign on our street is at the home of the town drunk, who is racist and sexist to boot.

Yes, Trump signs are a big turn off. Put your house on the market after the election.

Ha!

My experience with Trump supporters been that they are loud-mouthed sore-head idiots who spend their time denigrating others around them. They are whiny crybabies.

So yes, I retreat from them. I know old-fashioned, fiscal conservative Republicans who are great, though.

That would DEFINITELY put me off as a potential buyer. No way would I want to live next to a neo-Nazi.

What idiot sells a house now

I'm a minority and I'm far more interested in the features of the house, schools, location, etc. there is no way in hell I would allow some random trump supporter prevent me from buying a house that is otherwise right for us. I have always appreciated people who wear/display the confederate flag or other racist things because it lets me know who you are. I also have a trump supporter in my own family. I think he's kind of dumb, but he certainly isn't racist.
