Neighbor has Trump sign

It would deter me for sure.
Reminds me of the movie Neighbors 2, pretty funny!

Good advice on waiting until November 9 to list your house.

This MUST be a troll post. It has to be.
Who in their right mind would even consider asking a neighbor to remove a campaign sign for a candidate with whom they disagree?

This. I am a minority and this would really deter me.

+2. I'm pretty liberal and I think this would turn like-minded folks off, particularly ethnic/racial minorities, especially if there are other good options for sale in your neighborhood. If you live in a hot neighborhood and there are slim pickings, perhaps potential buyers would do more research and wouldn't immediately dismiss the house.

That said, I don't think there's anyway that you can ask them to take the sign down.

I would not chose to move next door to a neighbor who has outed themselves as supported a bigoted, misogynist, hateful, divisive person and from talking to my friends most feel the same so this would certainly influence my interest as a buyer. OTOH as a patriotic American I believe that you would be 100% wrong to ask or expect that this neighbor take down the sign. AND - like it or not - I think you will have done a tremendous favor to anyone who feels like many like-thinking potential NOVO buyers who would never have access to this information in the normal/legally required in 'disclosures': by putting your home on the market before the election you have informed buyers that purchasing this house would put them right next door into a potential neighbor from hell situation. I also think you should discount your house price to reflect this reality....

This would absolutely deter me as a potential buyer, but I don't know if there's anything you can do about it. Sorry, OP.

You are insane.

This is a ridiculous question, but I do look at Trump signs the way I do Confederate Flags. At this point in his campaign, publicly affiliating yourself with Trump isn't just about politics - it's about a whole worldview that I want nothing to do with.

+1. And it's not like the neighbor is supporting Trump, they feel compelled to display a sign in a neighborhood where they know it won't convince anyone. I would definitely be on the lookout for other signs of antisocial tendencies.

I'd never want to live next door to someone like that.

Same here. I like to live in a diverse neighborhood and feeling welcome is a part of that. Just like I make assumptions about someone proudly flying a confederate flag in their front yard (namely that they wouldn't want any religious/racial/sexual minority next to them), I would make an educated guess about this new neighbor as well.

If it was the city, its easier to dismiss a "kook", in the suburbs or rural areas its less hard especially when its someone you'll see everyday, your kids might want to play with, and their views are in your face.

As an aside, I don't know how you can do more "research" as a potential buyer about the strange homeowner without knocking on neighbors doors and questioning them...which is weird.

+1 I feel the same way

Which is why there are plenty of voters this election season who don't publicly affiliate themselves with the candidate they will vote for. They vote because they can't stomach the other, not because they agree with their candidate's personality.

Prospective buyers will be comforted to know the neighbor isn't a rental property with 25 illegals stuffed in there.

Looks like OP's neighbor reads DCUM.
