OOS for UT is crazy? I mean is it though? I thought it was like $42K so that doesn’t seem terrible. |
But that is tuition only, tacking on housing and other fees is closer to 60k. We are okay with paying if it comes down to it, but tough to wrap my mind around as we always assumed paying that cheap in-state tuition. |
DC accepted at Denison!! |
Congrats to your senior!! |
I'm sorry and it is such a crap shoot (seemingly) for really high-performing kids. Some don't get into UCLA/B and get into UCSD/SB - the other way around for others. Absolutely not a reflection on what your child achieved or did - but a reflection on the 150,000 applications per school. With stats like that, I'm sure they will have options. May not be what you had planned, but I'm sure your child will be happy and successful where they choose to go. |
Rejected at Tulane, WL, UVA, UNC, Clemson, and waitlisted at many others. Accepted at good schools too. Still waiting on some. |
As a UT OOS student parent, highly recommend you attend the OOS session at the admitted student day. They provide some great advice to reduce tuition costs. Also my DC is graduating in 3 years due to UT accepting DE and AP credits. We have found UT to be extremely economical- lower than our instate schools. |
Wrong thread. |

Update from California parent here...
Rejected from UC Santa Barbara. Just waiting on UC Berkeley now. Pretty upset by these UC rejections, but also grateful for the UT Austin and UIUC acceptances. Right now we are leaning towards UIUC! |
