I’m sorry. I wish it were like a directed organ donation - my DD was accepted but isn’t going. I wish we could give your kid her spot!

my kid is also accepted but won't take offer, so hopefully the waitlist will open. Good luck!

Same here. I will have to remind him to check the portals whenever these schools get around to releasing their decisions. He’s literally lost interest in these Rd schools. At least we only had to pay one application fee of the few he applied to.

My son was accepted from VA yesterday.

California is a big state, but wow does Pomona love Californians!

Ditto and their first choice but we didn’t want to ED (kid wanted to ED but we wanted them to ED). It hurts.

What are your stats looking for potential places for kid in 2025/2029 class.

probably more like a lot more Californians apply there since it's within the state. Also, California has a high population. Notice that the top 4 states are states with a high population. Note how many kids from little MD go there.

WL at Notre Dame. So not hopeless but feels more like rejection.

What are your stats? Surprised by being completely rejected from ND.

Rejected from every single UC so far. I have seen comments from other California parents where their kid has been accepted into at least one. This is really heartbreaking.

My kid worked so hard-- multiple APs, good grades, high ACT (though this doesn't count). Also hired a professional to read their essays. I don't know what else we could have done.

UCB and UCSB are not out yet so we are hoping to get at least one, but we have tempered expectations. But I have some relief as we have UIUC and UT Austin acceptances. But OOS costs are crazy.

Assuming you didn’t apply to Santa Cruz, Riverside, or Merced, right? CS major? Nevertheless, getting accepted to UT Austin and UIUC from California is a HUGE achievement.

Correct, didn't apply to SC, R, or M. In hindsight I wish mine applied to Santa Cruz as the school is so beautiful!

Yes we applied as CS first choice for all schools. And math as second choice major for UCs, engineering as second choice for non-UCs. So my son got rejected from both first choice and alt. choice majors at all UCs. They got in for CS at UT Austin, but got in second choice (general engineering) at UIUC.

And thank you so much-- UT Austin and UIUC are great so at least we have options! But really hoping for in-state California schools to pull through.

Berkeley is generally very tough for CS, of course, but I’m hopeful that UCSB might be a great fit for your son!

On today of all days, wishing good luck!

And I’ll be with you.

Would mind sharing your students’ stats that make you think you’ll be back to the rejection board next week?
