Yes, decisions came out at 7PM. |
We just got a rejection from NEU. It was a stretch, so not surprised. On to the next |
Expecting rejections from Swarthmore, Amherst, Williams and Tufts. |
No idea. Definitely a strategy to boost avg gpa. |
NEU is a stretch for all in regular decision round. |
Waiting for the rejection from Michigan… |
It is the Loch Ness monster of schools. |
Hang in there, everyone. Hoping you all have good options. Or, at least Tim Gunn "make it work" options! |
Kid was waitlisted at NEU, but I'd been expecting it to be their first rejection. The rejections will come soon enough, as other reach school decisions trickle out this week and next.
I hope every kid has gotten into at least one school they are proud of and excited about! (You can only attend one, anyway, we tell our kid.) |
Waiting on rejections from Chicago and MIT. |
DC has had a good run of acceptances but RD is where that ends, I'm certain. Will share here in the next couple of weeks. |
Honestly I think it's more of a strategy to make more money. Despite all the hype about NEU, their Forbes financial rating is a 3.52, which is an A-, but only 2 hundredths of a point from a B+. A ton of small liberal arts colleges many on here have never heard of have higher financial ranks. Their marketing grew them fast in an expensive area beyond their means and are needing as many tuition dollars as they can to actually build capacity--hence the distributed locations, guaranteed transfers etc. |
Happy pi day. |
So consider yourself lucky and move on to your next best choice (assuming you got "global scholars" or whatever they are currently calling it---go to London/Oakland for a semester each then return to Boston) |
When there are 96K+ applicants, and they accept less than 8-9K total (including NUIN/Global Scholars) there is not much difference between Boston (included numbers) and the others. Majority of NUIn/Global Scholars are Rich/Fully pay kids. But their stats are very similar to all accepted. |
