stupidest name spellings ever

Wow, you're going to lump Hilarie in with Brooklynne?

Which makes me think I know you, because that is my daughter's name...which, BTW, is a "normal" spelling. There is an actress with this spelling and I had a friend in middle school with this spelling. I am not low class or white trash in any way - I just liked this spelling better than the more commonly used ones.

Whatever - I hardly think this spelling is heinous in the same way that Hevvin is.

I HATE mis-spelled and stupid names, but Hilarie is fine. And just an alternate spelling. Don't know why someone is lumping it in with Brooklynne. Even Jordyn is better than that (although it still makes me cringe a little bit).

Now if someone went with Hyllury, that would be bad.

I know it's not technically mis-spelled, but I can't let this thread go without bringing up my most hated name of the moment, Brayden. Or Braden. Either way is awful.

I also hate things like Makynli (saw that on Toddlers and Tiaras) and Mykenzie and things like that. But I don't know if I can call them mis-spellings or just gross names.

Thank you - I know by choosing a less commonly used spelling, I will raise a few eyebrows. But I hardly think it is a stupidly spelled name when it is still a commonly accepted alternate spelling. I just didn't like the -y spellings. And I agree Hyllury WOULD be awful(ly funny)!

And Makynli? Really? Well, I guess that is no worse than the comedian Myq from Last Comic Standing.

For adults, Hilary is fine, but I don't see too many kids with that name. And, I do think the spelling Hilarie makes her seem a little bit ditzy. But, I mean, besides the one person who posted here, most people will actually get to know her before writing her off for a job or as a potential friend, so it's probably not a big deal.

I chose it because not too many people are using it right now - that was a huge plus for me.

That's fine if you think the name looks a little ditzy - I just was taken aback by someone lumping an accepted alternate spelling in with some pretty horrendous cre8tive spellings.

Plus, I think I know whoever posted this and I'm peeved. They can suck it for all I care.

I'm not seeing any mention of Tripp/Trapp/Track/Truck or similar names as being as worthy of derision as the ones that people (at least on this board) associate with AAs... Anyone care to explain? Or is it just that Tripp is clearly the "normal" spelling and we would only laugh if someone named the baby "Tryppe"?

I think if I saw someone named Tryppe I would want to pronounce it Tripe-not a pleasant thing to be called.

Also, I think all those names are pretty bad, kinda like Newt, Stone and Gunner

Oh, my.. Poor kids. I wonder what country their parents were from that they thought it was up to the hospital to name their children? North Korea?

my MIL wants to place bets on what my SIL will name her soon to be born daughter, so I was trolling the ssa.gov list of most popular names last year...

44 -- Makayla
58 -- -Bella (not the spelling I have an issue with, but the connection to Twilight)
74 -- Trinity
81 -- Autumn
94 -- Serenity

seriously -- that many people are naming their daughters Serenity?

I think some people might think you're being racist by pointing this name thing out. In the AA community, there are some really creative spellings of names.

OK, what's wrong with Autumn? Other than it being a little hippy-dippy, I hardly think that is along the lines of Trinity or Navaeh.

Well, I personally don't see these as much so they didn't come to my mind quickly.

But, since you asked, I think these are equally hideous names.

Satisfied?

That you are an equal-opportunity judgmental smuggie? Yes.

Since when is it judgmental or smug to not like a name? Or do you like to be self-righteous for no particular reason?
Some names are -in my opinion-ugly. I'm sure there are people who don't like what I named my DD. That doesn't make me -or them- judgmental or smug. It means we don't like a name. Period. So peddle your sanctimony somewhere else.

Did anyone see the contestent on Last Comic Standing with the name Myq (i.e., "Mike") Kaplan? I'm assuming he changed the spelling himself but who knows.

That's why I chose names like Veronica. Classic, not overly used, and normal spelling.
