Am I just weird, or does this sound bother you as much as it does me.....

So imagine this - I'm in a conference room with several colleagues, and we're all on a conference call. I am battling insane allergies and I am miserable. The call is very important, I'm talking a lot, and also taking a lot of notes, so leaving the room is not really an option.

I'm getting bad post-nasal drip. I'm getting more and more stuffed up, can feel my breathing becoming labored, and the tickle in my throat is making me cough and making my eyes water.

Is it okay with you if I sniffle/clear throat/clear nasal passages now? Or should I just pass out due to loss of oxygen??

Loud talking. Gum popping. Popcorn/chip eating. Those are my big ones. Sniffing, coughing, etc. don't bother me.

No mention of slurping? My DH sucks certain kinds of food in. I try not to sound like my mother by nagging but sometimes I just can't help it. Super annoying.

Can you have situational or relational Misophonia, ie, Misophonia only in certain situations or with certain people?

OP you are not alone. it is almost intolerable along with the sound of windshield wipers on a dry windshield.

If I sit next to someone with the sniffles, I have to move. And God forbid I can't leave and am forced to endure the sound, I feel like I am going crazy. I have a friend that I walk with, and she sniffles throughout our walk and it has gotten to the point where I make excuses not to walk with her because I hate the sound but I don't want to offend her.

So is this just me, or does anyone else get this annoyed by sniffling?

I hate the sound too. It's so annoying and distracting.

I also know someone who was nearly driven insane by the woman in the next office who coughed constantly. I mean, constantly for years and years and years (and yes, she had a medical condition also). One can be sympathetic but still aggravated.

My 15 year old son does this and I want to PUNCH HIM IN THE NOSE everytime I hear it. I scream "GO BLOW YOUR NOSE" each and every time he does it to save myself from leaping across the room and choking him.

I also cannot stand the sound of forks hitting plates or bowls. MAKES MY EARS BLEED.

ME too. And chewing, god I hate that sound.

But why can't you blow your nose?

My husband scrapes the metal fork on his upper teeth with every bite he takes with said fork. All the time. It's a nightmare. Good thing he is otherwise pretty awesome.

My coworker on the other side of the cubicle used to cough all day long, this horrible phlegmy chesty cough. She'd talk on the phone to clients, and either be coughing or rasping her way through the call with a phlegmy voice and I just wanted to scream "clear your throat!" I don't know what was worse, the coughing, or the talking with that frog in her throat. She did have allergies, and had pills to take. She knew it bothered me, but didn't know the extent to which it made me crazy. And I tried to frame it like "you poor thing, you're coughing so much today! Did you take your allergy pill? Hopefully your medication will make you feel a little better." I too was sympathetic but aggravated.

OTOH another coworker would snort and snuffle too, just like you described (actively sucking in snot). She was a terror to work with in general. I heard her, more than once, laugh about how annoying her sniffling was, and what a kick she was getting out of irritating a certain coworker who complained.

I don't think it's weird OP. We all have our pet peeves. Normal sniffling doesn't bother me but hearing people chew gum makes me crazy. So does the sound of kissing. When people are kissing on tv or in movies, the sound is like nails on a chalkboard to me It's making me cringe just thinking about it.
