Why was my post on the obnoxious liberal marching thru neighborhood deleted?

I have't read the thread, but what is false?

The entire thread. All gossip and speculation. No facts.

You people are so odd. DCUM is just one forum. There are millions of others. Why on earth would you read and comment on a site you don't like? If you don't like the moderation, find a site that better serves you. Better yet, start your own. You are a bunch of whiney victims with way, way too much time on their hands.

OP, I actually agree with you that the thread probably should have stood ( I didn't see it, but I think so on principle).

HOWEVER, I find your whole tone so inflammatory, confrontational, aggressive. The way you throw around the word "liberal" is so invective. I can hear the disdain and disgust dripping from it. And you continue to come on here, throw it around like its a filthy word and complain about how put upon you are - trying to prove the point that poor, upstanding conservatives are mistreated. I get it, you think all liberals are horrible people. I can tell you some of them are, just as are some small minded conservatives. You do know that conservatives can be equally as obnoxious right?? I am an independent voter and I can tell you, you seem very "snowflakey" to me. You're not doing your cause any favors........

Too bad you can't read the original thread. My first post reported the incident, asking if it were in violation. Only after nasty posters started coming out, calling me a liar, saying the story was false, throwing insults because I complained about this poor and apparently illegal, behavior from liberals, and then, to top to off, having the thread deleted, did I become more aggressive (or defensive).

And have you heard how some liberals here have condemned all conservatives using the most vile language? It's thread after thread of disdain against conservatives. And last night, I was on the phone with a relative, discussing he dying father, when these "protestors" march through, screaming obscenities, and waking the children.

OP, I understand where you are coming from. Jeff did the same (or worse?) a couple years ago when shots were fired near the zoo and he kept deleting posts by neighbors because, according to him, we were making things up.

Yes, just call the police next time. And don't waste too much mental energy trying to debate with fundamentalists -- it doesn't work.

You stated that you were in the Metro and then describing things that happened within the zoo when you were never even in the zoo. Also, just in case aye makes the mistake of thinking that you are sane, this was your reaction:

http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/379497.page

Oh, and this was my response to you at that time:

http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/15/379497.page#5040787

You are lying, and about quite serious matters.

Fortunately we have a police and a newspaper to report facts and to fix problems.

This is what happened that day and what I and others shared and you kept deleting:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/crime/2014/04/23/0c9182f4-cafe-11e3-a75e-463587891b57_story.html?utm_term=.3a3650e6a258

What am I lying about? Read the thread that you started. It's right there for anyone to see. Of course there was a shooting -- not in the zoo but outside it. You were attempting to describe things that you could not have seen and when I asked you to limit yourself to what you actually saw, you went berserk. It's amazing that even four years later you are upset about it.

It's not amazing at all, you were playing with lives. Your arrogance led you to delete posts by me and others that could have informed DCUM readers of what was happening and helped make them safe.

Let's see:
- I was less than 500m away from where a shooting took place
- I was hearing 2 helicopters above
- people were running in Connecticut ave
- I just had read a witness account on how 2-3 black teens had shot three times (or four) across from a school and a grass area where many kids play
- I had just talked to several neighbors by phone to coordinate how to find our kids and take them home for safety

And you, Sir, where we're you and what were your unique sources of information to state that what we were sharing was false and to delete our posts?

Oh, the police found 3 (or 4) casings the next day. You should at the very least apologize.

I didn't lie about any of that. To the contrary, I repeatedly referred back to your posts because it made clear that you were not inside the zoo. I simply asked you not to comment on things that you hadn't seen because there was a lot of misinformation being spread. For some reason, that simple request set you off. LOL that I endangered lives as if your posts talking about something that had already happened was going to save anyone. You are really hilarious. I'm sure everyone in the line of fire was checking DCUM to see what "anonymous" who was 500m away had to say.

You still don't get it.

The shooting took place outside the zoo. Someone else and myself were reporting what we knew -- and was later proven correct -- from outside the zoo. And you deleted our posts because...

Wait for it...

It's coming....

You deleted our posts because we were out of the zoo -- exactly where the incident took place.

And we were sharing what at least one witness had told us -- you know there's something called text messages, correct?

Anyway, good news is that the police took it seriously and nothing like this has happened since.

The only posts I deleted were ones that provided information that the poster couldn't know to be true. Most of those were reporting that the event took place within the zoo when, as you note, the incident occurred outside the zoo. So, those were clearly not based on fact. To prevent misinformation, I asked that posters only post what they knew to be true from having witnessed it. You repeatedly ignored that request. Even today you clearly say that you didn't witness anything and were five football field lengths away from where it happened. Your goal was quite obviously not to provide information, but to spread fear.

I'm sorry that the trauma of having your posts deleted remains such an open wound even after four years. They say that time heals everything, so maybe in a few more years you will be able to put this behind you.

+1

Didn’t all of the whiners make a big dramatic exit to City Data?

You still don't get it, and frankly probably never will.

I have no trauma about some random guy shooting in the air next to my children and my friends' children.

I do have a new awareness, thanks to you, that some people pretending to be "liberal" or "progressive" are instead totalitarian dummies willing to censor out and delete comments they don't agree with rather than having a civilized conversation.

Again, shots happened, we reported it, and you repeteadly blocked us, who knows why.

I do hope you never experience what I experienced that day.

Great. My point still stands. If DCUM isn't diverse enough for you, start a better, more diverse site. You don't have to read or comment on this site if you don't like the way it is run. It really is that simple. There are thousands and thousands of choices on the great big internet.

Let's build on your stupid comment, and see if you realize how stupid it is.

If the USA isn't good or diverse enough for you, go and find a better, more diverse country. You don't have to talk about Trump all day long of you don't like him. It really is that simple. There are hundreds and hundreds of countries where you can freely fly to with your privileged American passport.

I was referring to the trauma of having your posts deleted. It appears that you are unable to get over that. I get it perfectly well. You are the one who did't get it four years ago and still doesn't get it.

Here is your original post:

http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/90/379308.page#5038243

Note, it was not deleted despite your belief that it was.

Here is my response:

http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/90/379308.page#5038260

And here is your response to my telling you that you were free to comment on what you saw:

http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/90/379308.page#5038300

All I asked is that posters stick to posting about what they had actually seen so that we didn't become a source of rumors and misinformation. For some reason, that was simply not a suggestion to which you were willing to adhere. Why you remain traumatized about that simple guideline is a real mystery.

And let's step back for a second.

Some neighbors and I were trying to share something that we obviously cared about and thought others in DCUM would like to be aware of.

And you, clueless about what was going on, and far far away, were busy deleting our posts.

What was, what is, your agenda?

My agenda was clearly explained: to encourage the posting of accurate information and prevent the posting of misinformation. Why did you feel that you could not adhere to my guideline that you only post about what you had witnessed? What was your agenda?

The situation is very simple and clearly explained by the posts that are all still online. I asked posters to only post about what they had actually witnessed rather than spreading rumors. You said that you were 500 meters away and asked whether that qualified you to comment. I said that it was. Then you freaked out. Your reaction made no sense then and still makes no sense today.

Let's compare those posts you deleted with the thousands you didnt, and see if there's a pattern.
