When cleaning up after the kids becomes cleaning up after the adults. RSS feed

Why are some of you confused about the difference between a nanny and a housekeeper?

I worked for a family that let their kids just go crazy. They never made the kids clean up after themselves. Why would they?! They never cleaned up after themselves either! I spent all day just cleaning up their mess. It was exhausting! It made me physically ill to see that kind of mess everyday when I got to work. Just complete disregard for cleanliness and order. After I had spent hours straightening it the day before! So when the money wasn't worth it- I quit. Sounds like you should do the same. It only gets worse, not better. And if you start complaining, they'll just fire you and find somebody else.

This.

Easier said then done.

I really rather keep this job, since that's the only issue I have. The pay is fair, and it took me forever to find this job.

Then you put up with their messes. However, this situation will only get worse do I would recommend that you have a serious discussion with them about the job creep.

I'd like to hear how a "serious discussion" has solved this issue. Did they get a daily cleaner? Or they suddenly started cleaning up after themselves? I doubt most parents really want to change their sloppy bad habits.

I was about to say the same thing. How pathetic to make excuses for adults this way. It’s so disgusting to leave a stinky diaper pail and sink full of dirty dishes all weekend be use you went to the beach and ran in a damned race. If anything doing all of that means your home should be clean. Who does all of that with s filthy house?

Seriously. If it's so simple and easy for nanny to spend 15 minutes cleaning up gross stuff, surely TWO adults could manage to do so once in awhile. I hate lazy people, i really do. No one is asking for perfection but I'd love to walk in one Monday and not smell gross stuff that no one bothered to take care of since I left Friday afternoon. Ugh.
