Another MB here. PP, you do realize that there are fees for getting checks cashed and for bouncing checks, right? The appropriate response from the MB would have been a heartfelt apology and to offer to give her cash that day to cover the bounced check and the fees. A college student has an excuse (inexperience) for bouncing a check. The 30/40/50-something parents who run a household and can afford to hire an employee should be not be cutting things so close that they are bouncing checks.

NP. I've been reading through old posts (just found DCUM a month or so ago) and gotten to this one, so thank you to whoever dredged it up. BTDT, family actually blamed me, said I shouldn't have deposited the check until Monday. I was blown away, because that made no sense to me at all! How am I supposed to know to wait and deposit a check on Monday when my bank is open Friday afternoon/evening, Saturday morning, and has online and mobile deposit? And why would a family think it's ok to make me wait?
