I think you were too hard on your MB. She apologized profusely and you still gave her a hard time. She felt bad and that was obvious. Also, you know she is often late so this was a big change for her.
I can't just walk out on my boss. I've been there and it is a tough spot to be in. My boss Has kept me late and all I an do is think of my nanny and how stuck she is. It is stressful. It has only happened two times in year, but it sucks. We pay nannies so that we can work so some flexibility while we are at work is appreciated. I would have accepted her apology and moved on. You took it to far. Yes, you could have called the center and explained and they could have explained to the child. Get another car seat from either mom so you can take your charge to pick up if necessary. |
Read OP's update. The situation has been resolved. |

Aww, you sound like an awesome nanny. I would have been livid too in your place, but I'm glad your current MB apologized. Your former charge is lucky to have you. |

I'm glad this was resolved to everyone's satisfaction, OP.
For what it's worth, I'm an MB and I'm totally on your side. *Especially* if the mother knew why you absolutely had to leave on time on Wednesday. |

So happy it worked out for you! You sound like a wonderful caring person, and I hope you always work for families that appreciate you. |
This 100%. You are truly a godsend to that little boy, OP, and I am so glad your MB knows and understands. Your MB did a great thing in both admitting her wrong and finding a solution. I get why you were so upset - the little guy lost his Dad just a short time ago and he was waiting, afraid you weren't going to pick him up... too much for any little kid to have to go thru. I have no clue why a few posters are finding fault with the OP on this. |
