Legality of Nanny Camera RSS feed

Ask your nanny to find law that shows it is NOT permitted. You may never find evidence of something that's not prohibited.

Nannies can call up the local police department and they'll come and inspect for any hidden cameras.

No, they won't.

It's surprising how many posters are ignorant about the law. It is legal in every state to have a hidden nanny cam. It is perfectly legal not to disclose to a nanny that there is a camera in the home. There are states that have laws prohibiting the recording of sound (wiretapping laws). There are also jurisdictions that prohibit the presence of cameras in bedrooms or bathrooms.

Personally, I find it ethical to disclose the presence of nanny cams.

Who told you its legal to have a hidden camera and not informing your nannies about it. Make sure it's legal in your states otherwise be ready to be sued and exposed.

Do you even bother to read the whole thread before posting stupid? Someone already shared a link that answers your issue the same way I did.

Google is your friend. It is legal in every state to have a hidden nanny camera that records video and you are under no legal obligation to inform anyone. The issues where states differ is in recording sound and in how the footage is used. Period.

As a nanny, this is why I don't work for families who has nanny cameras. If you don't trust me with your children then don't hire me.

Every time you walk into a bank, you hope there are security cameras right? Did you ever get told "we have security cameras here at this bank?" How about the last time you were at a gas station. Did anyone ever disclose their camera?

Goes to show, recording you without consent is definitely legal, place of employment, home, wherever.

Audio recording is sometimes not legal but I reviewed this years ago and found that in VA at least, it is legal.

Banks and all other retail places are considered public spaces when it comes to the issue of surveillance.

In a private resistance, which becomes a place of employment, you need to notify employees that there may be video surveillance, but not in the bedroom of a live-in or in the bathrooms.

Fitting rooms have cameras to make sure you don't steal.

Anyway, people who think they need to be notified before being filmed is just plain wrong. That is not the law.. Virginia is one of the very few states in the country that allow both voice and video recording with no consent. Most states only allow video recording with no consent.

Nanny cams are legal so long as you do not record sound, or place them in inappropriate places such as the bathroom (duh). If you really love this nanny then I guess print off the law for her.... otherwise she sounds like a bit of a bitch.

Actually, it's illegal to film inside the actual fitting room. Those notices are just to deter people, and warm them that there are cameras close by... but no, they're not allowed to film you undressing.

If she is hurt on the job in your house, you better hope you have Workman's Comp. Mandatory in DC and MD. so your house is a place of employment.

If she works there, it is a place of business. You sound exceedingly unpleasant.

She babysits, it's not her place of employment. By your logic she can walk into Walmart and demand they turn of their cameras because she is working since she has her charge with her. As much as you may wish it otherwise nannies are not professional employees, MBs house is not the nannies office, and nannies don't have any of the protections that pertain to professional salaried workers.

Oh, yeah - it is you again. The troll who has never been a nanny or ever hired a nanny.

Of course a nanny is a professional as being a nanny is a profession. You've already been busted on this crap you spew before - why do keep coming back to embarrass yourself, PP?

If you don't understand the term professional then you should refrain from posting because you look extremely foolish. Is the kid at McDonalds a food service "professional"??? I mean it is his profession right???

NP here and please stop. I am aware of your quest to demean nannies as well. What makes a professional model? One who earns money as a model. What makes a professional golfer? One you earns money as a golfer.

I am a mother who employs a nanny and on her tax return, her profession is listed as NANNY.

Please go away, PP. You have to get help for your obsessive hatred of nannies and your obsession with this forum. It isn't healthy or normal. You aren't a nanny, were not raised with a nanny and do not employ a nanny. You need to stop posting on this forum.

I am going to email Jeff about banning you.

+1 It is always the same pathetic troll. I feel sorry for her but am getting so sick of her.

And the teenage burger flipper lists his PROFESSION as burger flipper on his taxes. Having a JOB doesn't make you a PROFESSIONAL. Look the word up.

NP here and I did just look it up:

pro·fes·sion·al/pr??feSH(?)n(?)l/
adjective
of, relating to, or connected with a profession.
(of a person) engaged in a specified activity as one's main paid occupation rather than as a pastime.
noun
a person engaged or qualified in a profession.

Where does a nanny not fit into that definition?

NP here, but hun reading comprehension might help here. You can be a professional golfer because it is a hobby/pastime for some, but if you get paid you are pro. You can be a professional photographer because instead of just taking pictures for fun you make a living. You can't be a professional nanny because no one is a hobby nanny or nannies for free. Read what you copy and pasted.

So a CEO isn't a professional because nobody does it for fun?! Are you kidding?!

a person engaged or qualified in a profession.
A professional in someone with a profession (aka career). A nanny has a profession: nanny. A nanny is a professional. Is that really that hard to understand?

I prefer my employers have nanny cams, in case something happens, they can refer to the recording, but I won't work for anyone who has the cameras connected to their network, due to hacking possibilities. Never had a problem yet, some families choose to instal after I suggest it, others don't.

God only knows what footage hackers have.

"Hackers" love to watch nannies watching tv and folding clothes.

If she's watching tv and folding your clothes, she's a babysitter, not a nanny. Nannies know better than to use the idiot box. But whatever she is, I hope she's doing a lot more than that.

Is $25 an hour a "low pay" job according to that troll? Majorities of the nannies have high school if not college educated. Unlike the troll who is maleducada.

I've employed MANY nannies in the last 4 years and I can tell you I am being very generous with my assumptions of what they actually do.
