Can someone explain the allure of working-from-home one day a week?

Mothers can win on this board. They get shredded for having the temerity to work outside the home. They get shredded for having the temerity to work inside the home.

OP, it's none of your business WHY she wants to work at home, nor is that a question strangers can answer.

If you want an actual answer - ask her.

If you want to address the problems her being home is causing, talk to her.

If you just want to complain and judge then you've found your home, and kindred spirits clearly.

It's very strange that OP is so obsessed with why her MB works at home. It doesn't matter why and it isn't any of OP's business. Point is she does work at home, one day, every other week. OP has already said that she is out of the house for five hours a day, so really, her problem is pretty minor. Three hours every other week to have an MB home is pretty easy.

That said, OP feels very put out. Fine. So she should talk to her MB about ways to make her days at home easier for OP (I don't believe for a second the charge is damaged by having the mother work home so infrequently).

If she doesn't want to do that, OP should quit.

It's a really easy problem to solve if OP focuses on the issue and not the ridiculous question of why.



Yes, the help should never question the motives of any boss. Ever. A nanny should know her place at all times including on a nanny message board.

Considering I said no such thing about nannies knowing their place, you should really work on that reading comprehension, PP.
