If I heard you call my DD empress or even princess I would fire you without discussion.

A. How could you be so horrible to a nanny that obviously loves your children.
B. Who are you? You post a lot of remarks like this. You're like the angriest MB on earth.

There are always the "I would fire the nanny immediately" comments. So childish and ridiculous. The working mother needs the nanny for childcare or she can't go to work and the SAH MB needs the nanny because she can't handle her own kids. No one is going to be fired. But it makes the posters feel like they have power when they write it. It is sad and pathetic when you think about it.

I have a feeling it is the same troll - the chick who has never been a nanny and never employed a nanny. No working mother is going to cut off her nose to spite her face for something so ridiculous as a nickname.

NP, but some people who are paying their nannies really well feel entitled to some certain level of quality childcare and a certain level of "exactly what I want." I mean if you are paying your nanny $12 an hour like most of the posters on this board I can see kind of catering to them and trying to keep them happy in other ways. While I might not fire my nanny immediately as that previous post suggests, with the rate I am paying if I see something I don't like or want changed, even hypothetically what nanny is calling DC, then I will request she change and if she can't I will happily move on to someone better. It's really not hard to find a nanny when you are paying well over $20 an hour.

I pay DC's nanny $21 an hour and still wouldn't "fire her immediately" calling DC "empress"! What would I do for childcare until I found another nanny? Maybe you are a SAHM but I work and find those who think this is a fireable offense truly ridiculous.

I pay over 20 an hour and I would be afraid that I would lose my wonderful nanny for bringing up something so petty and inconsequential. The nannies who earn top dollar are also the most desirable. So I actually see the exact opposite of your statement to be true, PP.

I've met plenty of nannies who aren't "earning" top dollar but really should be! I don't care so much about your college degree (that won't help you nanny) or your experience with premies (that won't help you with my kids) but when I see you playing with your charges at the park the way you do and engaging them and seeing how much the kids seem to love you I want to steal you away and offer you more money than I'm sure you are making and have you be my kids nanny.

Am I the only one who is trying to figure out what the nickname is? What does a baby do that is something like bear and bug?

Grouchy like a bear? And all babies look like bugs-on-their-backs when they are kicking and flailing their arms before they can turn over.

I've called my niece Baby Bumble Bee for years for the little humming noises she made when she was an infant - maybe it's "Bumble Bee".

Or "Banana Fish"...

Bumble bee is adorable!

My babies made dolphin noises as infants. We called the nursery "the pod" back then.

"Nanny, there is already a "Squirts" in our new playgroup, so can you please stop calling Larlo that?"

Seriously though, let it go and be happy your nanny is affectionate enough to give a nickname.

How wonderful for you! I wouldn't work for you, even if the fate of humanity depended on it. You represent the very worst that this board has to offer, and contribute to the negative vibes that seem to flow freely here. For your information, both the parents of "lovebug" and "empress" keep in contact with me, and give me updates on their children. Both sets of parents have repeatedly told me that they felt comfortable going to work, knowing their infants were being cared for with a lot of love. You need to go to an ashram or some kind of spiritual retreat to either learn about humanity, or gain some. You really need to, because your negativity is mind boggling.
