If nanny chooses not to get vaccinated for no real medical reason what do we do, we are both fully vaccinated now and have 2 elementary age children. |
Nanny here (I'm in Europe - will get vaccinated when it's my turn).
I wouldn't keep a nanny that refuses to get the vaccine. If that's a problem for you, then do what you have to do. Your family's safety first ![]() |
This is tough. Do you like her otherwise? Why won't she get vaccinated? Is the vaccine available to her? Frankly other than a medical condition it is hard for me to understand why someone wouldn't get vaccinated if they had the opportunity to. |
OP are you the nanny? |
I’d let her go. |
Decide whether or not that's a deal breaker for you. If it is, you need to let her go. You should give her some type of severance and I would think she would be eligible for unemployment.
If you decide it's not a deal breaker, you have to be at peace with that. You can't force her to get a vaccine. |
Medical and religious reasons. This is very tricky. Also, if you don’t have a vaccination requirement listed in your contract, can you just request it on the spot? I’m asking an honest question. How have you been handling COVID this far- can you continue that way until she’s comfortable? If it’s a dealbreaker for you, then I guess you would just give her notice of terminating the contract. |
I would let her go. |
Her choice. |
Her/his choice to not get it. You’re choice to keep or not keep that employee
Simple |
Hope she doesn't have a sincere religious belief that keeps her from getting vaccinated. |
What is so good about this vaccine? You can still get sick and you can still spread? Why would you get it? |
If you get sick, you won’t get severly ill or die. You are less likely to spread because there will be much lower viral load in your body. |
+1 This is too important to ignore. |
Why do you care if you are vaccinated? |
