I have been caring for a (now) fifteen-month old little girl for about seven months now.
Her parents had had a bad Nanny prior so when they hired me, they had cameras installed which I was told about & they are on full display. Well lately it has been very hot + humid in the area and when I come in after a jaunt to the local park, I am usually full on sweating like a pig. So, I flip on the A/C, turn on the ceiling fan and lie down and lift my shirt up to fan off. I usually do this for about 10-20 minutes, depending on how soaked my shirt is. I know.....eww, right? Well after the first month or so, the Mother confided in me that she & her husband never use the cameras anymore since they felt that I was a great Nanny. I expected her to tell me that she would be taking the cameras down, but it was never mentioned and I didn’t ask. Well I cannot help but feel the Dad has been using them. I cannot offer any physical proof of this at all. But I have noticed that since I have been doing my “cooking off” routine, he has been checking me out in a way that makes me feel uneasy. Like maybe he has seen my bra and stomach exposed. Again, just a gut feeling I have. He looks at me different now and due to the timing, I think that he has seen me on the camera. Even though his wife assured me that neither of them log in + watch me during the day - is it possible for her husband to w/out her knowing? Or would it leave some sort of trail? I am clueless on how these cameras operate and how people can access a view. My questions seem silly I am sure, but I am not comfortable at work anymore & need to figure this out. Thanks in advance for any advice/info/input, etc. |

*- ”cooling off”
NOT cooking off. |
| Is there someplace you can do that where you would have more privacy? I guess I'm not understanding why you would lie down in their home and fan yourself off like that - where is the baby? Also cooling off, or is this before you start your shift? |

Can you manage your comfort level differently? I get that you are hot, but you are also at work. A teacher has to be on the playground, but can't lie down in her classroom and fan her shirt around - very unprofessional. When you are in someone else's home as an employee you should conduct yourself in a way that wouldn't be embarrassing to you or them if they unexpectedly returned home or whatever.
Him approaching you or otherwise harassing you is obviously not ok, but the question isn't whether or not they might be watching you, but instead what are you potentially showing them? You can't treat work like home, no matter how comfortable or well-regarded you are. |
| Yeah I would stop doing that |
| No offense, but I think some nannies seem to think that their DBs are getting a kick out of seeing them on camera, when in reality DBs have access to a ton of pornography online (if they want), flirting with women at work, their own wives, etc. Seems farfetched that a DB would get off to watching a sweaty nanny, unless she was very beautiful. If you're concerned about it, I would just cool off somewhere private. But I think nannies are a bit paranoid about this when in 99% of cases, they shouldn't be because the DB does not watch the cameras at all and does not find the idea sexy. |
+1 do you really think your sweaty stomach is that sexy? He can pick up a victoria's secret catalog and see more. |
| Troll. |
| I’ve played tickle monster while chasing 5 kids for over 30 minutes in 95+ degree weather. Yes, I was drenched when we got home. However, I NEVER would even think of lying down and fanning myself like you describe! First, you would cool off slowly if you were taking care of your charge, and you would be doing your job! Second, there’s zero reason to crank the ac AND turn in the fan. That’s wasting the electricity and possibly cooling your charge too much, too fast. Once your charge is comfortable and cool, I could see a rinse off shower (mine clock four minutes, so I’ve never had a parent object); you absolutely need to clear it with mb and/or dB first. |
| Why wouldn’t the A/C already be on, don’t they leave it running in warm weather? |
| Your cooling off with shirt up and bra exposed while laying on the couch for 20 minutes is highly unprofessional. I would not be ok with my nanny doing that in my home. |
This is a troll post. No good nanny would ever do this. |
| I also believe no employer would use the word your, instead of you’re. Why can’t people get it right, you’re supposed to be the educated one. |
So nannies can’t be educated? |
| No one with common sense would do something like this. You are either a troll or an idiot. Or both. Have a lovely day, and try to not expose yourself at work. |
