At my anniversary I got a 5% increase. The family was also expecting their 2nd child within a few months and wrote a 45% increase into the contract for the new baby. I cannot believe this. They even asked me if it was enough. I have the absolute best employers ever!

So you could have went from $12/hr to less than $18 an hour, still less than normal for this area.

OP, thanks for the response. My starting rate was several dollars higher than you listed.

If you are making under $25/hr for a newborn in DC you are underpaid. I hope this family is making it worth it for you in some other way since pay is not up to par (especially considering you were severely underpaid before your your 45% increase. your employers sounds like sly foxes!)
