| I've been with my current nanny family for about 6 months now, and am paid my direct deposit once a week. They've always been very good about paying me on time. They are out of the country for the next few weeks and I did not receive my desposit on Friday as I should have. I am sure it's an oversight, but I am a little annoyed. I'm not sure if/when I should try to contact them since they are on vacation, but don't want to go nearly three weeks without pay. |
| Contact them now. Being on vacation is no excuse for not coming through on their responsibilities. That being said, don't be too annoyed. If this is a one time thing, and they are appropriately apologetic, it probably won't be an issue again. |
|
Yes contact them!
I know it's annoying, but try not to be too upset since this is the first time. It may be as simple as a mix up due to the holiday |
| Send email! I assume they forgot to submit something via email to the payroll company. I would feel horrible if I forgot to pay an employee. |
So you have worked for them for 6 months and now you expect to be paid for 3 weeks when you won't be working? Get a grip. They aren't paying you, it wasn't an oversight, and if you bring it up they will start looking for your replacement OP. Count your blessings and drop it. |
Oh my God. Get out of here Crazy. |
Nice try...I'm not an idiot, I have guaranteed pay in my contract. Thanks for playing, though. |
| If they have service I suggest sending a brief text message rather then email. You might also check with your bank first to be sure the mistake is on their end. |
| I would let them know immediately. There is no excuse for this. How the hell could they forget? I would be looking for a new job because employers do not forget to pay their nanny, it is intentional. They did not forget to pay their mortgage, did they? |
|
Please email them. Don't get upset or mad. With direct deposit, you still have to authorize the payment with many companies. They're on vacation and probably forgot. An oversight and they will apologize I'm sure. Accidents happen.
Yes, I'm a nanny. Yes, my employers have forgotten to pay me. Yes, they apologized a TON. They have to authorize the payment a few days before my scheduled pay day in order for it to arrive in my account on time. No big deal. |
Wow, paranoid much? |
NP. Your contract isn't legally enforceable. If you don't work, you don't get paid. I'm not sure why this is so confusing for people. |
Will you posters stop with the nonsense and misinformation? The terms of a work agreement, within the confines of the law, ARE enforceable. If your employers sign an agreement stipulating guaranteed pay for a certain number of hours, you CAN enforce that in court. Do not go around signing documents assuming they don't mean anything because some crazy on the Internet said so. |
Not nonsense. And frankly, insisting that a NON-EXEMPT HOURLY employee be paid for time not worked is insane and does nothing bu hurt the nanny industry. |
Then I suppose they'll be out of a nanny when they get back for not holding up their end of the agreement. Seriously, why would they put it in the contract that nanny would be paid even when nanny did not work if they didn't intend to do so? That would be stupid. |
