Yes, I'm a nanny. Yes, my employers have forgotten to pay me. Yes, they apologized a TON. They have to authorize the payment a few days before my scheduled pay day in order for it to arrive in my account on time. No big deal.

+1000 There are a myriad of details to attend to when preparing for a trip. No one is perfect. There is no reason to think this is anything other than an oversight give their past behavior.

OP, I would just to make perfectly sure....double-check my contract to make sure that I was going to get paid for the weeks they were on vacation.

Because after only six months, for you to get a few weeks of paid money is a pretty great perk.

If everything is good, then contact them via email and just send them a friendly reminder that your check didn't get deposited on Friday. Since it was the day after Thanksgiving, perhaps there was a delay..?? Maybe...

If you don't see anything by today, Monday, I would definitely say something.

Good luck.

By the way, doesn't anyone on here watch "Judge Judy" on T.V.??

Even though the OP signed this contract for paid hours even if she didn't work those hours, she legally wouldn't be able to sue for the money owed from her bosses. It wouldn't hold up in a court of law.

Like Judge Judy says again and again..."If you eat the steak, you have to pay for it."

And the OP's bosses didn't eat the steak.

but they want to guarantee the steak will be there when they are back. So they pay a sorta like a retainer I guess you could say. Because for them it is worth to pay the nanny the weeks they will be away, rather than have a nany worried that she will have no pay for 2 weeks and therefore will look for another job.
BTW I am obsessed with JJ. and if it is written, she will enforce it.

Me too.

I am obsessed with Judge Judy too. {I call her "Justice Judy.} Lol.

And I learn so much about the law from her show as well.

So what happened, OP. Were you able to contact them?

OP here - my weekly pay came in on Monday, but my monthly stipened for health insurance, gas, etc. has not. I'm going to send off an e-mail tomorrow if it hasn't been deposited. I suspect MB just scheduled it late.

Yes, please send a reminder. I always tell my nanny to please tell me if I forget to give her a check for something. It doesn't happen often but I never want her to tell me if anything is amiss.
