It’s frontline essential workers, which is what we’ve been saying. APs are NOT frontline. |
Also just checked the NY 1b phase and AP do not qualify. Maybe PP should clarify why she think AP qualify in NY 1b phase ? |
NP - maybe it’s under this heading which is very vague?
Licensed, registered, approved or legally exempt child care providers |
Aupairs are neither Licensed nor registered or approved child care providers. Keep in mind that the idea is to open daycare centers and schools so parents can work. Not getting the vaccine so AP can party and travel or live their best life. No one is living their best life now, we are in a pandemic and need to work together to get out of this and selfish people are holding us back big time! |
Except they are registered (with the state department) and approved (what does that even mean in this instance?) and they don’t specify that it only applies to daycare centers or schools because those are a separate category. I’m not arguing that au pairs should jump the line in order to party, merely that under these rules it does seem like they are considered childcare providers and may be eligible. For the pp above I don’t see a huge issue with her au pair getting the vaccine if she can, given what happened to her mom and the rest of the family’s status. Anyone who can get the vaccine, should. It helps protect everyone else who is still waiting. |
In the grand scheme of things, it does help if more people are vaccinated. The thing is, we are in short supply. Therefore, some people can be helped *MORE* than others. An au pair who is not otherwise high risk should not be jumping the line. |
+100 |
I know of at least 4 or 5 au pairs who have received the vaccine in Maryland that live in either DC or VA. This is ridiculous, but clearly the health department isn’t enforcing anything. |
This is double wrong, shame of HFs encouraging this! |
Those are leftover vaccines. Better than throwing it away. If I could get a hold on a vaccine for myself I wouldn’t think about it twice either. |
leftover vaccines are in DC. Not Maryland |
These APs are talking to each other and providing the info on FB sites. So don't assume the HF are encouraging it, or know about it. |
This OP post says otherwise. |
How can anyone be certain that leftover vaccines are being given to certain people regardless of if it's DC, MD or whatever? |
All of the above are true. Agency reps are also sharing information. |
