We had an only slightly overweight AP who claimed to go to the gym regularly, but was shocked to see it was all belly fat. 19 years old and she had a spare tire shape. She preferred to do crafts and baking, which did not work well in our family as our kids are too young for these activities on a daily basis because they needed to run around outside instead. AP also went to the gym once in two months, so much for going to the gym as one of her hobbies...

We rematched because she did not fit with our family, not that she was overweight. She also had a more disciplinarian attitude that doesn’t work well with toddlers.

When other similar families called, we told them the truth that she wasn’t an active, sporty person. In one case, the host dad had heard enough after about 10 minutes to move on. Families with little kids that need to burn energy don’t want to waste their time with a caregiver that wants to sit on the park bench (likely on their phone) while the kids are on the playground.

I do not think there are any “pros” to an overweight AP. Just pros to the individuals you are considering.

If you had two versions of the same person, one fat and one not there is no reason to take the fat one, unless your kids need a role model or confidence with their weight or something.
