Parents planning fall trip. Advice? RSS feed

4 kids from 3rd grade to high school while homeschooling means 24 hour days, because you can't leave overnight and you're doing school during the day. Add in SN for the two high schoolers, and even I wouldn't consider it!

At $2000 for a week (M-F) is $400/day, 4.30am to 9.30pm is 17 hour days, so $23.50/hour without counting 9.30-4.30 (technically they don't have to pay for any sleeping hours if you get at least 5 hours continuous sleep). While the pay isn't bad, it's not great for the dynamic and job requirements.

My experience is 24/7 homeschooling 7 children, but there were no special needs involved. With 24/7 being the daily expectation, there wasn't misbehavior when the parent wasn't home. There's no way that I would want to tackle that situation. Kudos for doing it before, but I agree that you should find a way out.
