How to pull back emotionally?

This is such a difficult thing. I recently went through this with my previous NF when I needed a full time job rather than the part time hours that I was working with them. It didn't help that I was not only close with my charge (with him from 4 months of age to 2 years), I was also close with MB because she worked from home.

It was one of the most difficult things I had to do when I told her I was leaving. We cried together on my last day. We still talk from time to time (she texts me when DC talks about me, we text happy birthday, etc.) and I recently went to visit them. It was still painful leaving after our visit.

She is pregnant now, so I definitely plan to offer to sit for her for free once the baby comes and she needs some time away.
