PP, please understand that many communities and immigrants in America do not speak English as a first-language. Please learn some cultural sensitivity.

Then they don't belong here!

Our nation was founded by immigrants. Anyone who came to this country a century or two ago was likely to have a native language that was something other than English. Does that mean they didn't belong here? I'm pretty sure if those people hadn't been immigrants in America many of us wouldn't be here today.

OP of this entire discussion: her family went on vacation. She is being paid. It is NOT officially either of her vacation weeks. The family asked her to feed the pets. She doesn't want to travel and feed them.
To her I say: if they are paying you and it is merely extra vacation, suck it up and feed the pets.

New poster with a similar issue: asked to feed the pets when it was supposed to be her week of vacation.
To her I say: unfortunately, you got a raw deal. Don't make the animals suffer. Have a serious talk with MB when they get back. They owe you more vacation time, paid.

Yes this totally. Thank you for simplifying it. I think myself and some other PPs were starting to get confused!

I agree as well.

To all the nannies that have a week paid vacation but are stuck taking care of dogs: SPEAK UP. If you don't have the freedom to go away on your vacation, if you have to come in to work then it's NOT YOUR PAID VACATION week. It's a work week and you need to arrange another week where you can travel. All major pet stores have pet "hotels" so if it's your week of vacation let them figure out where to board THEIR pet.
