Hmmm. Maybe PP meant that it should have been "way to show you're an ass"? That's the only thing I can think that she meant, and to be fair... she didn't actually show her ass, she showed her bad attitude, so it is a legitimate critique. ![]() |
Lol yes I figured that as well. So I was waiting for her to put her foot in her mouth. |
[b] Ding Ding Ding!!!! English please? What does "way to show your ass" mean?? |
You are not serious? Obviously you don't speak much English. Since you thought that was an appropriate place to say it was a spelling error. Good job showing your ass once again darling!
Btw it means you are making a fool of yourself. Anyone with basic English skills understands that. Cheers. |
^ I'm not from the US, but I am from an English speaking country. What a crude expression. I'm GLAD that isn't in my vocabulary!! |
Maybe in the special world you live in. That is not a phrase. |
This saying btw has been used for centuries for arrogant people who when the elevate themselves expose their asses increasingly. Sorry the special world you live in is so limited. |
For centuries, huh? Sorry, folks, but it hasn't been used among grownups. Not sure I'd be so proud of myself for having mastered trailer park culture. |

If you do it little research you will learn that deviations of the saying has been used for centuries, and by many "grown ups", including in the bible. I had no idea that old proverbs are trailer park language. It seems since you have revealed your ignorance of the various uses of literature you feel comfortable to fall back on "I don't know that because it's for trailer parks". Whatever makes you feel better love. |
*snort* |
lol.
I've never heard that phrase before either, but I'm enjoying the animosity on this thread. It's a beautiful day, don't you guys have something better to do than get all mad about nothing? PS. Thanks for teaching me a new saying, though! |
That is a typically American phrase. I'm sorry but no, other English speaking countries do not have rid expression. It may have been around for centuries, but you must be the only ones who use it. |
*this, not rid |
I've never heard the phrase "show your ass" either. I have heard "show you're an ass". I think that is much more common as most people are just shorting asshole to ass. I wouldn't think it makes a difference if you have or haven't heard this before. I do have to admit that for those who haven't like me, when you first hear it, it does sound like someone who doesn't know how to speak well is using bad grammer. |
