Im so annoyed... I was supposed to get paid on Sunday or I even gave her til Monday for the benefit of the doubt... But now its thursday and she still has not sent the money. I emailed her on Tuesday with a statement saying how many hours I worked in the MONTH OF JUNE and she finally emailed me this morning saying she's been busy... Then asks me to work extra hours, saying she would pay me at some point today... Im just getting annoyed... this is a part time short term job and I know it will be eneding next month but I just am so annoyed with the pay... it happened last month too...
Just a RANT |

I'm sorry, OP. You are another nanny being taken advantage of. I don't suppose they gave you any references, did they?
Also, please read the "Essential Proceedures" thread for your own protection. Please. |
| If it happened last month, you should have quit. This is why nannies get taken advantage of. Yes, there are shitty as employers out there, but if we nannies don't stick up for ourselves, why are they going to change their way? If we don't put up with it the FIRST time, they will know it is unacceptable to treat people like this |
| The correct response would be to refuse to come in unless she pays you for June hours immediately upon arrival. If you get there and she doesn't pay you, leave. |
Thats a great way to make sure you never get your back pay. |
On the contrary, it's the PERFECT way to guarantee herself a well-justified court-ordered settlement. Beware of the consequences coming your way. |

I wouldn't take her to court over $400... Im confidant she will pay... its just annoying. She is a really nice lady.. momma of twins and i know she's busy. She is also paying me well and close friends with a former great MB.
I just wish she would pay me on time... |
LOL you are living in a fantasy world of TV court shows. |
Like I said above keep being nice, don't threaten her or anything. It surely won't be worth your time to pursue this in court anyways since you have to pay for small claims court and then when you win there is nothing forcing her to pay you the judgement unless you pay for a sherif to help you collect. So assuming you don't have to cancel any other paid work on your random court date you will maybe end up with $100 in your pocket. |

MB here.
OP, you seem like a sweet person and that you are trying to be understanding. The fact remains that your paycheck is nearly a week late and this is nothing new. Your MB is taking advantage of your kindness and will continue to do so if you a |

MB here again
Sorry got cut off using my new phone. Anyways..., you will be continued to be taken advantage of if you allow it. I appreciate that it's a short term arrangement, but that doesn't mean your paycheck should be unreliable. NO ONE outside of the nanny profession would put up with this behavior from an employer. You better believe that if 2 months in a row my paycheck was more than a week late, I'd be giving my employer X number of days until I filed a claim. You are entitled to your paycheck. You need to stand up for yourself. Tell your boss that your paycheck is almost a week late and if youndont receive it by Tuesday, you will be looking into legal action. If you get fired, your MB is an asshole who was trying to take advantage of you. If she apologizes profusely and gets it to you, thank her and say that next month you hope it doesn't get to this point. Your MB isn't stupid or naive. She knows what she's doing and it's up to you to let her know it's not ok. Sorry, I hope I didn't come off as harsh. I just get really bothered reading posts by seemingly nice nannies who are being taken advantage of by their bosses because they are trying to be so accommodating |
| And when you do get paid, make plenty sure the check clears before you let her know you are mad at her and will not be coming back to work for her. |
+1. LOL |
| Still nothing.. I texted her last night to let her know her child gave me pink eye and ask if she had sent the pay as I hadn't seen it yet she said make sure you get some antibiotics & and i will send it tonight... this morning nothing. I let her know i got antibiotics and wondered if she had sent the pay yet as I still haven't gotten it. She hasn't replied |
| Op Here! Finally!!!!!!!! I said i needed to pay rent and the money came rolling in! |
