What is wrong with new parents?

Your charges are older kids, PP. You cannot cook for the family or unload the dishwasher as an educational exercise for an 18 month old. Everything a nanny does and can do depends upon the child's age.

This old thread is about infant/newborn care. I cannot do anything but hold my newborn charge due to severe reflux. I cannot even figure out how to pee with him in my arms 100% of the time much less make beds and unload dishwashers!!!

Have you at least told the parents that your are out of your element? I feel bad for the kid if you are staying just because you need the income and the child is suffering from your incompetence.

I leave my house at 7am after working out for 45 minutes, walking the dog, nursing two babies, and getting ready for work. So the last thing I need is to add more to that list.

Get up 10 minutes earlier and make your damn bed. Work out for 35 minutes and make your own damn bed.

The problem wiith this is that there simply aren't that many wealthy families who need nannies. THe job market is saturated. In all likelihood you will have to work for a middle class family if you want a job, period.

I'm sorry, but if the job market was in fact "saturated" with decent nannies, as you claim, we wouldn't have the barrage of parents with endless complaints about their so-called nannies. What we have is the saturation of well-to-do parents looking for the cheapest available in-home childcare and housekeeping. What they have are babysitters, not nannies.

Washington also has a solid base of wealthy families, as evidenced by our real estate market. Those families are often able and willing to hire agencies in hopes of finding one of the few truly professional nannies who knows childhood development inside out. These exceptional nannies have extensive experience and stellar references. They know how to do their work. The luckiest parents will find such a nanny through word-of-mouth, and will offer her a very generous compensation package.
