Travel is always most expensive in the summer and during winter break/spring break, and most destinations are more crowded during these times.. If I were a nanny I'd pick a different time to travel. You pick one week, they pick the other. |
Big daycare centers might not normally close, but I'd say that's due to having enough employees that they can have 1 person take their vacation and still have others cover to for them. Many in-home daycares definitely do close for a full week or 2 during the year (usually during Christmas, and 1 in the summer). These people running them definitely want their own vacation time and cannot just have other staff cover for them. |
OP wrote that her nanny wants to take vacation at inconvenient times and OP would like her nanny to take vacation during Christmas or over the summer. So the home daycare will work fine or a daycare not established with a synagogue. So like 99.9% of daycares will meet OP’s needs. Or she can just do what nearly all nanny families do - 1 week your choice and 1 week our choice. |
Can you have family come.to you for that week? Grandma comes for the week or your sister or DH's cousin? I know a lot of people who do that.
"Train a babysitter"? Do you have someone you use regularly? If so, then no need to train them. If not, then you should start using them on weekends so that you have them ready when you need them. Are jobs really back traveling 30%? Infection rates are spiking. ugh. |
