Jewish (and other religious) daycare is usually attached to a school, and it closes when the school closes.  Secular centers don’t close except for Christmas.[/quote]

Big daycare centers might not normally close, but I'd say that's due to having enough employees that they can have 1 person take their vacation and still have others cover to for them. Many in-home daycares definitely do close for a full week or 2 during the year (usually during Christmas, and 1 in the summer). These people running them definitely want their own vacation time and cannot just have other staff cover for them.[/quote]

OP wrote that her nanny wants to take vacation at inconvenient times and OP would like her nanny to take vacation during Christmas or over the summer. So the home daycare will work fine or a daycare not established with a synagogue. So like 99.9% of daycares will meet OP’s needs.  Or she can just do what nearly all nanny families do - 1 week your choice and 1 week our choice.[/quote]
