Most employees need to get approval for vacation. And yes, that often means that it has to be at a time when it's convenient for the employer. I hold a corporate managerial position and absolutely cannot take vacation when it's not convenient for my employer. |
That's not the same thing. If your employer said "We are closing for two weeks and the only way to get paid is to use 80 hours of PTO" it would be a similar situation. No one is saying vacations shouldn't be approved, but forced "vacation" is another thing entirely. Regardless, very few jobs require more than 3 months notice for a vacation (mine only requires 2 weeks unless I am going to dipping in to STD); OPs employers are being inconsiderate and annoying. |
There’s a difference between blackout weeks (common in most employment situations) and mandated vacation weeks (NOT common). |
